How are you doing? new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 93 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,232 Amount Saved: $465.00 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 22 Mins: 27 Seconds: 6

I had the same thing but went to the doctor as well. Can't really take any chances in that category. Also, drinking plenty of ice water helps and so does sucking on peppermint. Hope this helps! Hey Straightflop! I had the heartburn, every day and it did hang around for awhile. But OTC remedies worked for me. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 171 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,275 Amount Saved: $1,804.05 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 21 Mins: 46 Seconds: 55

I had it too and found out that it was caused by anxiety. Try to relax by conscious breathing
Our breathing is a stable solid ground that we can take refuge in. Regardless of our internal weather- our thoughts, emotions and perceptions- our breathing is always with us like a faithful friend. Whenever we feel carried away, or sunken in a deep emotion, or scattered in worries and projects, we return to our breathing to collect and anchor our mind. We feel the flow of air coming in and going out of our nose. We feel how light and natural, how calm and peaceful our breathing functions. At any time, while we are walking, gardening, or typing, we can return to this peaceful source of life. We may like to recite: Breathing in I know that I am breathing in. Breathing out I know that I am breathing out. We do not need to control our breath. Feel the breath as it actually is. It may be long or short, deep or shallow. With our awareness it will naturally become slower and deeper. Conscious breathing is the key to uniting body and mind and bringing the energy of mindfulness into each moment of our life. Straight, Yes.... the right thing is to see the doctor. I don't want to give you a false sense of security.....but I have experienced that in past quits... and did so this time too. Not as much....but I did feel that feeling. I would wonder if it was a heart attack coming on or cancer. Every now and then I get that feeling....but not very often at all now. Still...check it out. Thankx Boxerfan. I do have anxeity disorder already and that has actually improved since i quit. I do know the feeling you are talking about because i have dealt with it for years and I take Xanax on a regular basis. This however almost feels like congestion but I am not coughing anything up. I think I will just move my appointment up anyway. Part of my quit was from the Dr telling me I had a small bout of bacterial pneumonia but the anti-viotics cleared that up and i was feeling fing. Just find this strange that's all. Straightflop, I had problems with what I would call tightness in my chest. For, me it lasted the first couple of weeks and I think it was anxiety related. It was uncomfortable and a little scary. Hubby has had ongoing problems with heartburn. I do think it's always best to check with your doctor, so I'm glad you have an appointment. Your 9 days smoke-free are looking good :) Boxerfan My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 85 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,530 Amount Saved: $425.00 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 14 Mins: 47 Seconds: 28
