QuitMyster, My pleasure! You're obviously pretty dedicated to your boys and really should take pride in that. Just like you said, a lot of people would just shake their head. Have fun! Danielle - Bilingual Support Specialist

Danielle, Thanks for the input. It would seem obvious to ask another adult;however, it's difficult to locate one who will happily "pitch a tent" and go the distance. Quite honestly, any friend I have, just shakes their head because I am willing to go at all. Can't say as though I totally enjoy the tent experience, but that's what the guys love to do. Soon enough they will be older and will want to be doing other things with their time. I did talk to my guys about the situation, but they were so disappointed about the "no show" of their Aunt, I only dealt with that issue (gave them time to vent). Maybe I'll talk to them today about how I am really going to need them to help me (I have one arm that is not very mobile). We can do this thing, but I am literally going to need an "extra set of hands," or, in this instance, an "extra working arm." And you are right about the teenage boy behavior. Wish we could bottle some of that energy! Thanks again for your input and support. Away I go!!! QuitMyster, Anyone else you could ask to come along? Sounds to me like you just needed a pick me up after some dissapointing, stress provoking? news. Remember, as a smoker, you likely lit up every time something went awry because the nicotine released chemicals in your brain giving your mood a lift. Now that you've quit, try grabbing a reward, other pleasurable or relaxing activity. It may also be helpful to you to talk to a friend or write out how you're feeling at length in a journal. You may also want to consider talking to your boys before your trip. It seems like they're pretty supportive of you. Giving them a heads up on how you're feeling about you + 4 maybe that will help curb some of that wild teenage boy behavior. :p Hope this helps. Danielle - Bilingual Support Specialist

To tryagain, Why do I need another family member to go? One adult, 4 young teenagers (13 and 14 years old), fast moving river, due to lots of rain this year. Would have been nice to have someone else to help watchover them. freebird - thank you for the encouraging words - Just so you know, my sons are scared to death of cigs. They learned a lot about the circulatory system this year at school. That's another huge reason for this quit. They were really scared I would get sick and die (I'm a single Mom) and they wondered what would happen to them. Go and enjoy yourself and the time you have alone with the kids. Just think the only smoke you will smell like is campfire smoke. (which I love that smell) If this is your 1st trip with them without smoking, maybe you will learn something new about yourself and or show the kids that you can do stuff and have fun without having to smoke, which could set an example for them not to think about starting. Just think, with 4 teenage boys, you can sit back and watch them do the hardwork. LOL Have a safe trip. Old pattern of behavior showed up again yesterday. It caused me to want to just find a quiet place and comfort myself with a cig. Situation: plan for months on a family vacation, then last minute, family member cancels (she found a new boyfriend and is pulling her disappearing act again, will resurface when relationship doesn't work out), my children are VERY disappointed (again), as am I. Will now be taking four teenage boys (all by myself) on a three day camping trip. This trip is the highlight of their summer every year. They talk about it, plan for it, write about it when they go back to school, etc. Just needed to vent. Hopefully, someone out there will recognize this situation and have some great insight/advice. Tomorrow will be two weeks for my quit and I have to keep my quit.
