mjbsuns,
After more than 3 months of not having any nicotine in you, you went to the store and bought gum to help you through the cravings?!?!?!?! Think about that for a second! Now, you're going to have to go through intensified cravings because you have now introduced nicotine BACK into your system after having it completely OUT of your system for 3 months! Not a good idea!
Yes, using gum is better than smoking, but the thing is that it's still nicotine! You're still addicted and are still giving your body its addictive substance! The ONLY way to get through the cravings and get to a place of comfort without nicotine is to NOT put it back in your system! You've GOT to resist the cravings some other way! Chew regular gum, suck on hard candy or suckers, eat sunflower seeds, eat licorice, get a straw cut to the length of a cigarette and use that instead... do WHATEVER you can, but at this point in your quit, it's foolish to reintroduce nicotine back into your system!
Crave the Quit!
