Electronic Cigarettes

Hi Jojo. Quitting because your wife is on your case ... sounds a lot like my original motivation to quit (it was my hubby, though). It took a while of trying and experimenting with different methods till I got to the right place where I could be successful and do it for ME. If you feel that you need to try something new and unorthodox and don't mind spending the money, then go ahead ... but as others have said, this method won't help you conquer the triggers and cravings. And, the truth is, they can jump up and grab at you months or even years after the nicotine is gone from your system. So these elec. cigs alone won't get you quit. For what it's worth, I finally turned to Chantix and it's been pretty amazing. BUT, that alone wasn't enough - I was forced to change my outlook and learn to kick out the cravings. It took some trial and error to get there. If you haven't read it yet, I recommend getting Alan Carr's book - Easy way to Stop Smoking. It is very enlightening. There is also a similar free on-line tutorial, something about quitsmokingonline - try doing a search for it. It also gives good ideas about how to approach a craving. Good luck, JoJo. :) You CAN quit smoking - and this site is a big help. Remember as you read posts - take what you need and leave the rest! Hey Jojo I went on the patches to quit smoking and I only went on them for 1 & 1/2 weeks. I needed to break the habit and then I could break the addiction. What you are describing (and no I haven't found the site yet) sounds to me like going cold turkey, but in 5 weeks time. Is that really how you want to do it. Think seriously first. Goodluck with your quit Mitch My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/30/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 27 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 540 Amount Saved: $183.60 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 1 Mins: 29 Seconds: 19

The thing about this electronic cigarattee is, it's still a cigarette! As carylene said, it's a nicorine delivery system but unlike an NRT, it does not encourage you to find something else to do with your hands, or to break the hand-mouth habit. It seems to me that it would actually re-inforce that. So even if you do step down with lower strength cartridges, you haven't taken care of those things, which are big parts of the battle. Also, I'm with Rusty, who wants that "smoker look"????? JoJO, there are many other ways to helo you quit that will actually help you quit, not just keep you addicted to nicotine delivered in a different way. Jojo, If you really want to quit, try the patch. It's readily available at any drugstore, without a prescription, it does cut the cravings way, way down. They are cheaper than smoking and in 10 - 12 weeks you are Nicotine free and singing along with the rest of us! Thats what I did. it works, it's easy and no cartridges to worry about. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 82 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,050 Amount Saved: $865.10 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 2 Mins: 38 Seconds: 29

Jojo, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but nicotine is also very damaging to your health. When nicotine enters your bloodstream, it engages your body' fight or flight response. This response releases adrenaline. Adrenaline increases your heartbeat, respiration, blood pressure and blood sugar. These reactions in addition to nicotine potential for raising your cholesterol and your risk for heart attack, stroke, diabetes and other cardiovascular illnesses is the same. We invite you to work through our online quit program instead and consult with your doctor about different quit aids that may be available to you. Remember, these are just aids and you'll still have to work at it to keep your quit. We also recommend you stick to more traditional methods as these have been tested to be safe and to increase your chances of success. If you want to quit, you've come to the right place. We will support you every step of the way. Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team

I didn't check out the link but wouldn't you just be as enslaved to these as you would to regular cigarettes? Constantly worried if you had enough nicotine cartridges - what if you run out? The cost, the health concerns, the addiction can all be broken by quitting. Jojo, quitting really isn't as difficult as people would have you believe. It can be a big lifestyle change but the ones who succeed are nothing special (sorry gang!) we just did it one baby step and one day at a time. Can I ask why you are desperate to quit? Read through the online program on the left - it's FREE! And honestly, you can be too if you want it badly enough. JoJo, People on this site want to rid themselves of an addiction to a drug. So - you rid yourself of the 'nasty stuff' as you say. Basically, you are saying this - you are a nicotine addict and this 'solution' suits you. Well fine. Not what I want though. And it's not what people here are trying to do. Good luck and goodbye. JoJo, I've noticed that you've just joined the site today.. Why don't you spend some time checking out what people have to say here before promoting this? Unless of course .. no surely not... nobody would come on here to promote their own product... Excuse me if I am putting 2 and 2 together to make 5 My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 467 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 14,010 Amount Saved: 3,502.50 Life Gained: Days: 75 Hrs: 1 Mins: 34 Seconds: 20
