Thanks for your responses. These new meds make for a fun life....one gives me gas, one makes me pee, and one puts me to sleep. The other one is just big and hard to swallow in addition to being expensive. Ah, life is good, considering the alternative. At least I am not smoking! Have a great week everyone! MomMom, Thanks for the update. Unfortunately, smoking does mask many conditions. Know that even though it may not feel like it, these discoveries are a good thing. Now at least you can be treated for it before it's too late. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Hi Nance, Hang in there they keep telling me that smoking was masking the things I am feeling now. We just have to hang in there and I am right there with you with the weight gain. Feel better and keep us posted. It is Sunday hop in a balloon today and joy us filling the skies. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 102 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,040 Amount Saved: $663.00 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 10 Mins: 11 Seconds: 53

I really don't know if there is a correlation or not....but mine rose after I had quit too. I had average blood pressure. It went up to 136..even 150 over 90!! I was freaked. I am quit almost 6 months and I took it the other day and I was back down to 117 over 67. That is the lowest yet since I quit. Lately it has been more like 126 over 84. mercy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 157 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,140 Amount Saved: $701.79 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 15 Mins: 33 Seconds: 11

A further update. BP is coming down (was 150/94 yesterday) but I was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. I am just learning about what this is and I did get another new med and an order for another test (ABI, whatever). I thought quitting would make me feel so much better, but so far I have discovered a heart problem, leg problems, dental problems, and a 20 pound weight gain. I can feel depression coming on... But I WILL NOT smoke! N.O.P.E! SammiJo, I am sure the 15 lbs I put on since quitting haven't helped either! However, I was probably 30 lbs overweight when I started the quit. I just don't know what caused the big rise...hopefully the tests will give a clue. The important thing is to get it down and keep it down. I was just surprised, that's all. I've been sick for the past month, had a whole mess of tests done, and everywhere I went they took my blood pressure. I've ALWAYS had about 120/70 and now it's consistently been around 145/80. I couldn't believe it! My blood pressure has never been that high! Well, now of course I get it. It's understandable that my pressure is high because of my weight -- and so the only reason it's always been lower for me is because I've smoked my entire adult life... until now. Thanks for clearing that up for me. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 160 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,800 Amount Saved: $480.00 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 13 Mins: 11 Seconds: 39
