I've had something similar before as well. My heart would be beating normally and then I'd have a premature beat (kind of fealt like a flip-flop). Then there would be a one second pause then I'd have a stronger than normal beat. At that point my normal heartbeat would continue. I had this for a few days, eventually to where it would happen every few minutes. After reading about it on the web and talking to some people I found out that these things can be caused by stress and fatigue. As soon as I caught up on my sleep and stopped worrying about it, it went away and never came back. Hope this helps,
Mick
thanks for responding. It does ease my mind some. What I am describing I guess isnt so much fast heart rate but irregular beating. kinda like i feel something flip flopping in my chest and its like my breath catches sometimes. And when I check my pulse it isnt steady its irregular. Like a few fast beats then a slow one and ect. Does anyone relate?

Hi there Kim
Yeup, palpitations is just one scary symptom of a panic attack, or anxiety in general. I get them too from time to time. If you drink coffee or smoke, this could induce the palpitations too. (I smoke and can get them after a cigarette) I've had quite a few palpitations this week, if it eases your anxiety a little. :) So you're not alone. I've had my heart checked out too, and got the all clear. It's all part of the fight or flight response. Your body gets anxious and is building itself up for a quick get away or attack. So your heart beats fast for seemingly no reason, to get the blood flowing to your limbs for speedy reflexes. Even though you may not be in any danger, it's the body's natural reaction to anxiety.
It's always good to get these things checked out.
Hope this helps. :)
Hi. This is Kim again.
I was wondering if someone could explain palpitations to me. If you have read any of my previous posts, you would know that I have a few heart symptoms, mostly racing. But is there more to palpitations? I have had other symptoms Ive never asks about and was wondering if the symptoms were indeed palpitations.
Kimberly
PS
I see my heart doctor today, but would like to get someone here to explain it to me in a language I understand! I mean, people who have them can explain them the way I would totally relate, rather than medically.
