Pounding heart/pulse sounds like it could very well be anxiety related if they checked heart function, blood chemistry, blood pressure and the other physical causes then you need to talk to them about how to control the anxiety.
From what I have learned there are number tools, both medical and behaviorial. It is somewhat trial and error and home work to find out which one works best for you. It is painful, but all of the long term solutions seem to take time.
Please accept my empathy. I have felt lost and hopeless too, but if you keep talking to your doctor about what works and what doesn't and you work on alternate techniques of coping with stress it will get better.
Please accept my very sincere wishes that you are feeling better when you read this. And try not to focus on the symptoms. When I get sucked into that cycle it only feeds on its self. Its not easy, but try to find a distraction.
good luck and best wishes.
Hi all,
I have had ME for approx. 1 year now and my symptoms seem to be getting better but unfortunately I have started to suffer from very bad anxiety and doctor thinks I have developed and anxiety disorder.
I was always a perfectionist/worrier before the ME started so guess I am suceptable to anxiety.
I have panic attacks every now and then and get the usual symptoms but I also have some other more permanent symptoms which my doctor says are aniexty related and wondered if anyone else has experienced them...
- I have a feeling of pressure on my throat just under adams apple, doctor reckons its globus hystericus.
- I can actually see the pulse in my neck at both sides where you are supposed to check it and the two tubes, not suer what they are called also seem to pulse and also what looks like a pulse under my adams apple. Basically by neck is pulsing :) (I have seen 3 docs about this and all said its anxiety)
- I sometimes feel like I cannot breath properly but am never actually short of breath and when I become engrossed in something it tends to stop until I think about and then it starts.
- When I lay down I can feel my heart beating in various parts of my body, usually my head.
Basically, I am pretty anxious at the moment :)
If anyone has experienced any of the above and know of any treatment or can suggest treatment for anxiety in general please let me know. I don't want to take SSRI if possible.
Currently taking Arsen.Alb (homeopathy) but don't seem to be doing much.
thanks in advance,
Shandy
