Porky and Tutti, You are both doing wonderfully well, nearly to the end of your second week. And you know what???? You are more than entitled to a "crabbyfest" if it helps. I believe I've hosted more than one "crabbyfest" since I quit. Keep your quits going strong. Love to see your progress! You hang in there Porky. One crave at a time for now, one hour at a time, one day at a time. This journey REALLY does get easier. Time is the best healer of all. Hang on tight!!!! Hi Tutti and Porky, My you guys are doing SO well. Such strength of charachter. I was "lucky". Aside from the first few days, my next weeks were really not so bad, up until about the 6 week point when it all drove me insane. Then again a few bad days around the 3 month point. But nothing that bad aside from those points. And really, I think when quitters say they are having a bad day again, it is never REALLY as bad as those first few days. We just kind of forget how bad those ones were I think! I personally, feel like I don;t really gte "craves" as such, I get a bit of discomfort. Well, I was often pretty uncomfortable as a smoker so, no difference really - and at least I no longer have all the fears a smoker has too. Anyway. I just wondered if either of you likes music? One of my early "rewards" was to buy myself an mp4 player (off ebay!) and I have downloaded lots of tracks onto it. From the sublime to the ridiculous. Just anything and everything I could think of that affects my mood. When things are tough for me, I bung on the headphones (walk as well if I can) and really focus on listening to the music and focussing solely on that and guarantee, by the end of it, my mood has changed. Hey! Music - a mind altering substance that doesn't cost anything and does you no harm! lol Anyway, hang in there guys knowing that there is a lass (ok ok a middle aged lady!) thinking of you all the way over here in bonnie Scotland. Hope you have nice weekends. I like word search puzzles and cross word puzzles. I haven't tried sudoko, but other tell me it's really a lot of fun. How about painting or jigsaw puzzles? Ther's a lot out there to do! Tutti, These feelings are quit normal where you are in your quit. Around here, it's referred to as blah week. By this point you're just sick of fighting. Cure? Be kind to yourself in the days to come. Do anything and everything that might help make you feel better and you'll see that this too shall pass. Hang in there. Porky, Recognizing potential obstacles is the first step. A few more ideas from past posts to help you along: * Take a long bath * Learn how to play a musical instrument * Suck on an ice cube * Phone a friend * Learn a new language * Make wire and bead jewelery * Learn how to crochet and make a 'big' project * Learn how to knit and make a 'big' project * Start a scrapbook or start a journal * Eat peanuts * Put pictures in albums Hope this helps. Tutti & Porky, You're both doing really well! If venting makes you feel better, than have at it! You may also want to consider starting a journal, many members have also found this to be beneficial. Keep persevering! Danielle ___________________________ The SSC Support Team

Well, it's officially Spring as of Wednesday, 3/21 -- the weather better change drastically by then! Porky: I'm glad your back is feeling better - that's great news. Speaking of news, any word on the Echo yet? I'm also glad you've started the Chantix...it has really really helped me! Plus, if your husband takes it, within a week or 2 he's not going to really enjoy smoking and will naturally start to cut down. Keep us updated! I have to admit that I'd probably be feeling better if I was exercising more. I have no physical limitation which is preventing me from doing so....the only limitation I have is that my body feels like it's full of cement & I have the energy of a Galapagus Turtle (I'm making the assumption that they don't have much energy...they move sooo slowly)! :p So, my goal for this week is to get myself moving! Porky - Go ahead and punch me in the stomach - I'm so bloated I won't feel a thing! ;p :gasp: My attitude/spirits are better today. I felt depressed all weekend - sad, tired, and heavy. But, on the up side, I really did not have many cravings - they were occassional rather than constant...so that's progress! I'm still hanging in there - hope you are too!!! P.S. That goes for you too Tutti! Porky - I'm so happy to hear about your good results on your chest xray! I know how worried you were about that. Hopefully your ECHO results will be just as good, you'll be able to take the water pill, and your back will continue to heal! All good stuff. It sounds like you, Tutti, & I have all had a tough week. This weekend will be better (right?! :quest:) We must be thankful for each smoke-free day we have. We ARE non-smokers!
