So sick of this

YOu all make so much sense. I am still around, still trying to cope. I guess I really liked smoking and I miss it, and I also miss the social asepcts of it. On the other hand, health, and saving money and not stinking sound pretty positive too. Thanks for the link, ladycigevictor, I am going to read it right now. Tryagain, that ping analogy was great, I'll try and remember that when things get tough. So since tomorrow is a week, is it all magically going to get better? Just kidding (sorta) misha My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 172 Amount Saved: $70.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 17 Mins: 28 Seconds: 29

The cravings are like pings on your brain. At first the pings are almost constant. Then, as you have noticed already, there is some time in between pings. The time between pings gets longer and the pings themselves aren't as hard. You can do this.

Misha, I understand how you feel as I have been exactly where you are during more than one of my previous "attempts" to quit. I am on my final quit and I consider myself a non smoker. I am a newish non smoker, but I know I will never smoke again as long as I never forget I am addicted to nicotine. I have decided N.O.P.E (not one puff ever) is how I will stay a non smoker. You have gotten some wonderful advice from some really great quitters. They are all stressing the positive mindset. We do have a choice to quit being negative or quit being positive. We don't HAVE to feel horrible about quitting. We can choose to feel GOOD about quitting. It is still work, but we can make it very rewarding work. This link is to one of the best tools I've found to make it easy to not smoke and maybe if you read this it will help you too: http://www.stopsmokingcenter.net/support/viewmessages.aspx?forum=12&topic=31085 Have you read The Easyway to Quit Smoking by Allan Carr? It was instrumental in making me see my addiction for what it really is. You are doing so great...keep it up and know that it will get easier, no matter what. :) Pat My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 96 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,857 Amount Saved: $1344 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 6 Mins: 11 Seconds: 14

It does get better. This morning I was thinking how i was so happy to be a non smoker and very soon you will too!! It si the greatest feeling ever!! The first week is just hell. Stick in there i have faith in you. Don't look at it as though you are giving up something because you are only gaining something. There is nothing to lose but the yucky smell, the coughing, the expenses and so many other crapppy things. Misha, How are you doing today? Post and let us know, okay? You CAN do this and it will get better. My mouth and JAW got so sore from chewing on something all of the time. I had to keep switching things up a lot. Are you drinking a lot of water? I mean A LOT of water. I always push that but it helps so much with the cravings and flushes those poisons out of your system. If you'll drink a lot of water, not only will it help with the cravings and clean your system but it will also help you to lose some weight. At the beginning of my quit, I drank so much water that I actually lost 10 lbs. Then I got sort of tired of water and stopped drinking it. I FOUND that 10 lbs. plus a few more. Now I'm going right back to the water again and now I'm mainly chewing on toothpicks, straws, and nibbling on broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber slices and things like that. Healthy stuff. Ever since the first day of my quit, I have chewed on something CONSTANTLY. Now I'm switching off to raw veggies or toothpicks instead of snacks loaded with calories. Oh, and water. LOL It IS worth it, Misha. Take a look at your meter. Four days is HUGE!! Look at how many cigarettes you have NOT smoked. Now, take a deep breath....I mean really deep and see if you cough at all. Feel how much deeper you can breath in. It is worth it and it WILL get better. Let your body continue to heal. With each and every craving, your body is healing. Stay Strong and Keep Posting, Tutti My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/18/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,390 Amount Saved: $269.25 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 23 Mins: 32 Seconds: 5

Thanks windy, I am not doing so good again tonight, I am fine for a bit, but then I just want to scream, and I can't do that for obvious reasons. This is not my first attempt but it's going to be my last. HOpefully I can make through the night somehow. Hi misha - Glad you got through the night. The first week is called "Hell week" for a reason. It will not always be this way....Right now you are in survival mode...Do whatever you need to do to survive...I lived on sour candy and green tea. I posted and read constantly. By 8 or 9 o'clock I usually couldn't stand it anymore so I jumped into bed with my remote control. Better days ahead...one day at a time.
