Hi Bobbi - Have to admit that I didn't really start gaining much weight until after I came off the patch (at least the gain was slower). I remember asking the same thing because my metabolism did take a dip when I finished the patches. Good news is that short-term weight gain can be taken off through changes in diet and exercise AND apparently you don't even have to worry about that right now!

Most likely. Nicotine not only speeds up your metabolism but it also suppresses your appetite. If you're concerned about weight gain, use this time to start planning for your step down off the patch.

I think the nicotine in the patch speeds up you metabolism....
My weight (only 21 lbs) came on when I stopped the patch.
I have got rid of 4lbs of it so far...
