Hello Outlaw, When I first was diagnosed with panic attacks. I was taking xanax, the same dose you are currently on...it worked for...well, maybe a whole three months, I needed more to control the attacks, or I needed the doses even closer together. I think Xanax is a fast acting medication and it wears off faster. My psychiatrist, was seeing that I wasn't receiving any satisfactory relief with it. Though I think that this is usually the med. of choice it may not work well for everyone. I got put on Klonopin 1 mg 3x's a day...after four years I was slowly reduced down to 1 mg a day. I can't say that it is doing much for me right now though. I have been on it since 1996. I think I am due for a change, or a higher dose again. But there are many anti-anxiety medications out there. Have you told your doc. how xanax is working and in your case maybe not working for you? If you feel that your panic has gotten worse it may be time for a change.
