A symptom I haven't heard of before

Hi Pea! Congrats on your quit!! Not everyone will experience the same symptoms. Some have the brown crud and the cough while others, like you, experience nothing! How lucky you are!! Protect your quit w/ everything you have. Love your quit, pamper and reward yourself often, and most of all, be proud to be a non smoker!! Whoa! That does sound pretty nasty! :8o: I would imagine that is probably normal, but perhaps you should ask a professional... I know when I smoked I would blow my nose and it would be brownish, but that has stopped almost the day I quit. Glad he is better today! I am sure he feels better now that the gunk is out! Hubby goes to the doc every month. So that will no doubt be discussed at the next visit. But, he is just fine now. The stuff drained for about a day and a half. Now, he can breathe through his nose again! And never realized before that he couldn't !!!! Deb, we were at death's door weren't we? I mean, without actually getting called into the doctor's office and told to sit down and be calm. Although, when hubby got his new knee, he had some serious heart problems on the table that made the doctor say "It's time to quit". It wasn't enough. Part of it is sheer stubborness. No one is gonna make me quit smoking, I like it! Smoking is impossible to like. I enjoy smoking means: I enjoy seeing my money burn up and nothing to show for it. I enjoy coughing until I break a blood vessel and spew blood all over the place. I enjoy having my nose run black stuff. I enjoy stinking I enjoy ruining furniture and clothing I enjoy jumping up from bed and running to the sink so I can cough up a couple wads of phleghm first thing every morning. I enjoy the slimy feeling of smoke on my skin. It makes absolutely no sense that anyone in their right mind would find this enjoyable. Only an addict, not in their right mind would find this enjoyable. My husband quit along with me. He was a nasal exhaler. He would exhale the inhaled smoke through his nose. Yesterday, with both of us being 19 days smoke free his nose started to run, really, really bad. I mean almost like Linda Blair in the Exorcist bad. It was black/brown mucus (I hope I'm not grossing anyone out). I've never seen anything like that before. His nose ran for 15 minutes that bad, then just leaked a little for maybe another hour or so. He said he felt much better, like his sinuses were all clogged up (and he never noticed before) and they were finally clear. He's just fine this morning. Is this common with nasal exhalers? Does tobacco residue just collect in the sinuses and sit there like it sits on your walls? Jeez, it was scary for a few minutes.
