Sick and Anxious

Got the Rasberry tea and will try to drown myself. I'm ready to try about anything. Glad someone didn't say drink Bat Blood or I probably would be hunting tiny flying creatures. I cough every now and then and it's hardly a cough at all. Wimpy coughs like Derik Zoolander had in that movie. I don't mind/miss that feeling of coughing up a lung. Bottle of water with some pasta and crackers, with a sedative and a nap is next.

Way to go Joe. I puked on my front lawn on my second night, right in front of the wife and kids. My stomach was going crazy, any little noise sounded like a boom, the light was burning my eyes. Then it all started to get better. I went for a couple of walks in the brisk winter night and breathed in the fresh air. It has been getting better for me every day. JosephL, Chiming in another day of support for you and the upset stomach. How's it going? For first week of quit I, too, was a total slug--no energy, sick to my chantix stomach, dropping everything I touched and unable to concentrate. About day 10, most of withdrawal symptoms were gone. Sleeping *incredibly* well, waking up at 5 am rarin' to go (I've never been kinda girl to jump out of bed and embrace the day). I was out shoveling snow by 5 am yesterday which was weird on so many levels a) it was 5 am b) i hate morning c) i usually cannot breathe in the morning. So glad you got tea--besides its calming effects on nervous system, I also like it b/c it replaces my after-dinner smoke habit with a new, healthy habit. I also found whole wheat crackers to be helpful (a little better for you than enriched flour, if u care about such things). If you can, try to eat stuff that supports your immune system (sadly, not mac and cheese). Drink as much water as u can thru day and especially with pill. Hang in there. The drug does wonders for my mood, which is a big part of this battle. In fact, I think this whole addiction thing is 15% physical and 85% mental.

I'm in 3rd week of Chantix. Quit 1/8. My best quit so far. On the nausea: the pills make me sick, especially at night. Sometimes worse than others. I've had to cut nite dose in half. Here's what minimizes upset stomach for me: Include carbs with dinner or saltines--then taking pill. I rarely eat carbs, and once I stared adding in saltines my discomfort was lessened. I also drink a full glass of water and chamomile tea (no caffeine and it's a calming tea). The upside of nausea is that I have not been pigging out to deal with cravings. I hope you feel better soon. Despite the nausea, my energy is up incredibly, my anxiety is down and cravings are only bad for about a minute or so.

joe call your md. It says in the pamplet that if you get sick or bad reactions he might lower the dose. Don't give up. Eat something with the pills, see if that helps. jnine

Thumbs up to you Izzy... The Battle is more the mind, than the body. Listen up all...remember this little nicodemon :eg: has been our two-faced best-friend for a long time. He has gone everywhere with us like no-one else could. He has controlled our every move...when the crave, dizziness, nausea, depression or any other thing pounds at your mind.... Think...just think.... I want MY LIFE BACK...YOU CAN'T HAVE IT I responded to an earlier thread about the self-control we new non-smokers are starting to experience (I think it was with RiverdaleMan) I hope you can find it to read. Giving up smoking changes our personalities somewhat in giving us some assertivness...which we really do need. I am glad I have taken my life back...auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 979 Amount Saved: $90.25 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 16 Mins: 44 Seconds: 16

Joseph, other chantix users here have also posted that they need to have something to eat before taking it. I have no experience with chantix but just something to keep in mind...

Hi Joseph, It takes 72 hours for nicotine to be out of your system, but then you've also got to get rid of those 3000 other chemicals as well that were in your system so it takes a while for withdrawl symptoms to go away...be strong, you will feel better soon My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 160 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,489 Amount Saved: $627.2 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 8 Mins: 44 Seconds: 11
