heart rate with anxiety

Chloe, Have you tried Ativan? My pulse has been so rapid before I've gone to the ER where they've tested me for everything and sent me home hours later only to tell me that it was stress-related and to seek counselling. Ativan works quickly to at least temper the physical symptoms. The generalized terror still remains, but the body doesn't seem to respond as vehemently. Good Luck and Best Wishes, Nicole

chloe, when you are experiencing alot of anxiety your hear rate can go really high. MIne went to 190 beats per minute once. The reason I know that was because I was wearing a halter monitor at the time. the strange thing was it happened at 4 am when I was asleep. But when your body gets so wound up and that much adrenaline is pumping through you your heart will beat really fast, even at night when your sleeping. If you've been through all those tests and everything came back normal then try not to worry about it. If it continues talk to your doctor about it and maybe he could prescribe a beta blocker for you. I was on tenormin for a while to control my excelerated heart rate and it worked really well.

Does anyone know what their resting heart rate is and then what their heart rate jumps to during an anxiety attack. I know that an accelerated heart rate is a symptom of a panic attack but is it normal for it to jump to over 100 beats per minute. Mine has even gone to 140 but then seems to diminish after I take a xanax or relax for about 20 minutes. It scares me into thinking I have a heart defect. Sometimes I wake in the middle of the night with my heart pounding and start shaking and sweating and feel pins and needles. I've had an ekg and an echocardiogram so I would assume that would pick up abnormalities if there were any. Any advise/comments would be appreciated. :8o:
