It is so strange. I made a fire in my fireplace yesterday and now it feels like I smoke 5 packs of butts yesterday. My lungs are full of junk and I have been coughing all day (maybe I'm just sick).
I thought I was done with this crap, but here we go...I feel like smoking again. I'm not going to, but the cravings are like they were at day 5 or so. The coughing is too. It is so strange. I had a pretty easy quit after 25 years of puffing, but now I am suffering.
Thanks to you guys for teaching me some ideas to cope or I would really be doomed. Read, walk, drink lots of water and think...think a lot. This is the only way to live. Live.
Thanks for the help.
Jimmy The Mick

Yeah, I can see how being near death and feeling horrible would make you feel like you're back in the habit. Did you have the damper open? What can be done about smoke inhalation (sp?)?. I do hope you're feeling better. Keep your guard up. Otherwise sounds like you're coping well. It'll pass. Thanks for sharing. Hang tough.

I have discovered quite a few 'subconsious' triggers along the way. I once posted about gustatory hallucinations---hallucinations of taste. Sometimes after my morning coffee, my mouth would taste like I had just smoked a cigarette. The fireplace burning and even the occassional smell from the the burned embers. I sometimes think I smell someone smoking in the house when the coffee is brewing. I love cooking with fresh herbs. At the market there is 'somthing' (have not identified it yet) that 'smells' like a smoking memory....and, don't ask me why, but I really crave after a tuna salad sandwhich with lots of onion in it!(?)
Our minds and bodies are amazing!
Keep the quit Jimmy! You have invested a lot of time into this. I remember a rather "sick" little Jimmy at the beginning. Betcha don't wanna go thru that again! :8o:

Hi Jimmy
Craves can come when we least expect them - especially when we are a way into our quit and our confidence is growing. You know if you give in you will undo a great 45 days - and for what . . . momentary gratification and it will taste foul.
Dont know about all your coughing - you seem to think it's linked to lighting your fire. Did some smoke come down the chimney and if so does the chimney need cleaned perhaps. Then maybe you are coming down with a cold. Give it a day and see how you feel.
Go easy
All the best
Sharon

Jimmy, did you use to smoke by the fire with a nice glass of wine? Maybe you hit a trigger?
Go outside and breathe in some clean air then walk around the block.
