Not Doing so Good

We've been here before. We have all been here before. Taking the plunge is the hardest part of quitting. Take some deep breaths and just do it. You can quit. Keep telling yourself that you can make it. Take just five minutes at a time. Deep breaths and a lot of water. Get out your coping skills. Read, read, read and post, post, post. Life is too short as it is. Stop making it shorter by killing yourself. Look at all the people that have gone before you. That should encourage you! Come on... let's go. Many of us get cold feet at the last hours before our quit. I really think that is part of the process. Just trust in the plan that you have laid out and don't put a cig in your mouth. You will be alright if you just hold on. Don't have any around and don't go to a store to get any. Just take a deep breath and go for it. One breath at a time and one minute at a time. You can do it. Using Patches is a great way to take the "edge" off the cravings when you quit. It doesn't take the craves away, but it helps make them more managable....I credit my success at quitting to the patches. and starting the quit is the scariest step, at least it was for me. I prolonged that "jump" for days on end. I think I can say now it was the addict in me. He began screaming before I ever cut off his drug supply. It worked too...it kept me smoking for days. It also kept me irritable and half mad. Taking the plunge will bring some relief in that you have finally taken the first step. Don't be afraid. After all, quitting never killed anyone (well at least not the quitters!) it's a "choice" not a sentence of some sort. If you can see it in this light it will help stick close to this site....rant and rave, ramble on and ask questions by the dozens. Learn the tactics of distract and delay. Realize that you CAN get free from this addiction.
