Went back to the oral surgeon today. Should have the results from the lab tomorrow or day after. Very confident this is a leukoplasia---a non-cancerous condition---I will let you know! In any event---I am exhausted and smoke-free!

Anyway....I am so glad I have quit and I never expect to return to smoking. A couple of you are aware that I had a biopsy in my mouth on Friday. Everything went fine. I pointed out a place on my gum that had been there for awhile to my dentist during an exam for a crown. He scheduled an appt. with an oral surgeon. They ended up taking out quite a bit of the gum on the upper right hand side of my mouth. More than they expected, and won't know the results until the lab results come back. My mouth hurts and it feels like hamburger meat where they stitched it all together.
I always thought any kind of mouth cancer was reserved for our chewing and dipping counterparts----but apparently us smokers are at a greater risk as well.
BTW, Phil, I did toast to you today.....but without alcohol...instead a hydrocodone tablet! :blush: Different method; same result!

Have not heard anything, and don't expect to until maybe tomorrow or so....
However, I think I need to call the surgeon in the AM. The insicion area is inflammed (more so than I think is normal)and oozing puss---yuck!
Besides rinsing with salt water, I am applying alcohol tonight ;p Awwww.....hell, it can't hurt!
This morning an elderly, yet close friend, lost his wife and he has been rather fragile and feeble lately himself. My 8 month pregnant middle daughter has moved home today. She has been in an abusive relationship. I hope that this time it is for good, but we have been to this show before....... :blush:
My eldest daughter came to visit from Memphis on Friday and has gone back home now...she is doing so well. My eldest son turns 21 tomorrow. I also have a 17 year old who tests me daily and a 10 year old who is stressing, along with her Daddy, about a father/daughter ball on this coming Friday night!
Oh....I have new living room furniture, too! :)

OOOOOPS. Sorry I have not responded. Sparky sent me an email of reprimand! I got slammed at work AND home this week. Also...pathology had been dragging their feet. I just now called and found out everything is fine. They called it a luekoplakia(?) The stitches are driving me nuts and the swelling is still there. Have a follow up on Tuesday with the oral surgeon. I am sorry for not getting in touch sooner! Thanks for all the good wishes and cheer! You guys are so good! Still smoke free!
