Is it possible to just smoke when you drink...

for 18 år siden 0 2830 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Dunedad, Be careful with that!!! Substituting one addiction for another is VERY common, so if you find yourself drinking more, especially starting early and then going later, keep a watchful eye on that! You might also want to check out the SSC's sister site for alcohol addiction and take the survey there to see if you think you might have a problem. You can access that site from the main page on the left hand side of the screen. I completely understand about only dealing with one vice at a time, but you also don't want an alcohol problem to get so bad that it gets out of control! Just be careful. Maybe set a limit and stick to it... and if you find it hard to stick to your limits, then definitely check out the sister site for alcohol addictions! You will find some good tips there to help you. It might not be necessary to quit altogether... I don't know since I'm not an expert as far as alcohol addiction goes, but again, just be careful!!! I've known TOOOOOOOO many people to substitute one addiction for another and end up with a BIGGER problem with the second addiction! Crave the Quit! I can't seem to get the thought out of my head that given time I'll be able to smoke only when I drink. A rational part of me knows this is probably not true. I know people who seem to do this . Am I setting myself up for future failure. Any tips on how I can get this out of my head!!!! Sometimes, as a reward, Mrs Ed fills my trough with beer instead of water. I have been known to have too much, but even if I have got to the point of seeing 2 troughs (or 2 Mrs Eds), the last thing on my mind is smoking! I am not condoning excessive drinking, but at least having a couple of drinks can be relaxing or fun. What has smoking ever given anybody? NOTHING!! Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 289 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,690 Amount Saved: 2167.5 Life Gained: Days: 48 Hrs: 7 Mins: 4 Seconds: 38

Sure, you can smoke only when you drink. Of course, you'll end up drinking all the time. The junkie will pull off that rationalization. Then you'd have two problems, both of which will kill you. Yes, you are very much setting yourself up for future failure. Every time you hear that in your head, tell yourself you can't. Congratulations on 11 smoke-free days, Quittime. Keep 'em coming. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 555 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,112 Amount Saved: $2109 Life Gained: Days: 103 Hrs: 13 Mins: 52 Seconds: 20

No. I tried that on one of my former quits (I think that one last a month) and you either A) Drink more often or B)Start smoking again even without the drink. With me cigarettes are like potato chips,..I can't have just one. ditch this thinking. We are nicotine addicts....we can't make deals with our addiction. Oh yeah, you might do that for a few times, a few weeks, even a few months....but in the end the addiction will demand that you feed it on a regular basis. Don't go there....period, polka-dot Katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1791 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 71,667 Amount Saved: $10208.7 Life Gained: Days: 233 Hrs: 16 Mins: 46 Seconds: 45

quit, This is obviously a trigger that you will have to avoid for awhile. When you bounce back into situations that come with drinking, be sure to take it step by step and perhaps alternate water with every drink. Don't put smoking into the mix and avoid it all costs. If you are tempted, put the drink down and walk away, just protect your quit :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
