As you can see from my Quit meter I am not smoking. N.O.P.E. Yea!!!! My mantra. In my assessment I am doing pretty good. I used the Nicotine patch but after a few days and reading the posts on this web site I thought what is the point, so I stopped using them. What I need is your help suggestions on what stop smoking regimes you have used successfully? Sorry I confused you. I am not using anything right now and have not since a few days after my quit. That worked for me. I wanted to know what everyone else has done. Yes, Pam I would like the information for other who ask me how to quit. I can tell them what worked for me but I also wanted to tell them what other have tried. I always refer them to the web site since it is the best. So what worked for you? I'm in the same boat as you broomsdrew. I used my patches for the first 3 weeks. After learning so much on this site, I yanked them off. I felt much better after the drug that was causing me to be addicted was gone from my system. Keelei, Thanks for checking in! Sounds like your making great progress! As for your step down, you may experience a little withdrawal, you may be fine. Start preparing now just in case with all the strategies, distractions and rewards. Don't worry, just one more step towards freedom. Keep persevering and congrats on 56 days! There are two ways to take a bandaid off. You can take it off in a series of many small painful tears, or you can go for one big quick excruciating rip. I'm a one big quick excruciating rip girl. Personally, I wanted to get the withdrawal over and done with. With the patches and gum, you kick the psychological addiction first, them tackle the drug addiction. Quitting cold turkey makes you do both at the same time. Once I decided to quit, I wanted that drug OUT OUT OUT of my system and didn't want to draw it out any longer than need be. It worked for me, but your mileage may vary. *G* My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/19/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 390 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,810 Amount Saved: $1326 Life Gained: Days: 40 Hrs: 4 Mins: 0 Seconds: 38

I used the patches...full program. I used this site, I read everything I could/can get my hands on, educated/educate myself as much as possible, used distraction an awful lot, and chewed enough gum for a small army. Whatever it takes... Just don't smoke.
