Day Four - A Great Day!

for 18 år siden 0 175 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi everyone - Day four - the total opposite of day three. No cravings or misery. Just a day where I only thought about smoking around 200 times (that's down about 100 from yesterday). Thanks everyone for your ongoing support. I have a holiday party to go to tomorrow and I don't know if I want to be around smokers and drinkers...I'm not afraind of temptation, I'm afraid I'll preach all night about the dangers of smoking! Anyone here have to cope with a situation like that? Or is the best for me to do is stay away? Peace. 2tone My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 109 Amount Saved: $16.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 6 Seconds: 58

Hi SS -- I guess I really didn't mean 'preach' (nothing good ever comes from preaching to a smoker, you should know that)...I simply meant that, like all of us, I won't know how to act. It'll be my first social gathering without smoking since I was around 14 or so - and that was a LONG time ago. I agree about the booze, too. That's another obstacle that I'm not ready for. I guess I won't be staying too long... Stay strong and peace... -- 2tone My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 124 Amount Saved: $22 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 17 Mins: 13 Seconds: 3

Hi, 2tone: Great going! I would definitely NOT drink, as Kaiti and Deli already said; no point in setting yourself up that way! There would probably be as many different reactions to your "preaching," or just announcing that you have quit, as there are people who hear you say it, but I have found that most of my smoking friends are cool about not smoking at me. I spent yesterday afternoon with a smoking friend, and the entire day before, too, and what I had not noticed before (Well, yes, I did notice it, but not with such clarity) was how much TIME the HH (Horrible Habit) took: whatever we were doing, my friend had to stop, go outside, have a few puffs. I very nobly resisted commenting on this. But I spent a certain amount of time waiting, during which I thought about all the cool ways I can now spend all that extra time. And money. And energy. Just curious: are you related to the old 80's record label from UK called 2 Tone? Let us know how the party went, and what worked the best; it's what we will all deal with fairly often. Congratulations 2tone...your doing fantastic and remind me of myself that first week.... Only you can judge if you are ready for a party or not...It was a few weeks or maybe even a month before I was ready to have a few beers with friends...so be very very careful. Alcohol tends to lower you inhibitions. Keep up the great quit and protect it at all costs.... Hi 2tone :) If your goal is to quit smoking without alienating your circle of friends, perhaps it's best to neither brag nor preach, but simply explain matters to anyone who notices your new behavior. Without going to any special trouble, I've already told several people about the Stop Smoking Center and its benefits. I know at least one person joined. Just think how you would have felt while you were still smoking if a friend started to tell you how nasty your behavior was and how they noticed you smelled bad. You wouldn't have appreciated it, would you? My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/16/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 44 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,331 Amount Saved: $220 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 22 Mins: 6 Seconds: 5

Hi 2tone, It's great to hear that you are progressing so well. I noticed a difference in how I felt on day 4 too. (Because day 3 was so awful probably!) Congratulations on getting this far already. Go to your party, by all means - but don't be surprised if you don't want to stay for too long because of all the stinking smoke. Beware of the booze! That's all I can say! Keep up the good work 2tone. You're doing really well, Deli My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 151 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,270 Amount Saved: 453 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 4 Mins: 17 Seconds: 29

2tone, Congrats on day four! Instead of preaching try bragging about your quit. You'd be suprised how many smokers may watch you as you lead the way. Have fun. Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team

I like that idea of braggin about quitting. Worked for me. Its hard around the holidays for me also even though I have over 200 days. My first Christmas with a bunch of smokers and it was a challenge. Keep up the wonderful job!! You can do it!!
