Thanks Anna - you were absolultely right in my case. Have been off nicorettes since Tuesday and have felt much better, more in control and not so dependent on something. Again, I do not think I coul dhave made the 1st few weeks or even month without them, but then they become a crutch. I think everyone needs to use them as their body's system needs them to - this is just my example. I am now free of cigarettes and nicorettes - its great not have to make sure I have some thing with me everytime I leave somewhere - that frantic checking of the pockets for nic of some type. Also, the last 2 nights I have had to attent social events which are normally huge triggers, but i was able to handle both nights with alcohol and not struggle too much. It does help that very few people smoke anymore, and if they do, they go and hide somewhere out of site half a block down the street (in shame) and the only way you know they've smoked is when they walk back in you can smell them a mile away - DISGUSTING SMELL. GREAT TO BE FREE My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 66 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,324 Amount Saved: $198 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 15 Mins: 37 Seconds: 29

Thanks all for the input - it really helped. When I first saw these msg boards, I was skeptical about the impact it could have - but you guys have helped tremendously. Its now 9pm on Tuesday the 6th and I have not had a nicorette since yesterday at 3pm. As some of you have pointed out, I think thats been part of my problem - time to rid myself of nicotine completely. Thanks again for all your advice and words of encouragement. I've thouht about exactly what you said which is why I down from 5 to 7 nicorettes per day to 1. And I usually need this one between 2 and 3:30 pm after lunch and the afternoon becomes stressful. I am going to rid myslef of this too and just hang in for a few days - i believe it takes only a day or 2 for the body to rid iteself of nic. thanks for the input - it all helps My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 63 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,261 Amount Saved: $189 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 4 Mins: 34 Seconds: 7

"tryagain" - I have now been off gum for 2 full days (2mg) - and the continuous crave has subsided - and the peak craves have also not come - I know its only 2 days and I am expecting one to hit me any time - but its not as bad i thought it would be. I'm not suggesting you try this because I know what the gum directions are and if you are comfortable - stick with what you are doing. Its funny but its almost like a 2nd quit - easier of course but rewarding in a way. Could be psychological - but these are the best 2 days I've had in a long time - could be all the posts everyone has put up brainwashing me about nicotine - whatever it is - thanks to all of you - last 2 days were better and "tryagain" dont worry about when you have to go off the gum - its a lot easier than day 1 of not smoking. keep it up everyone!! i stopped on jan 2nd, 2007. Using nicorettes occassionally, but mostly cold turkey. the first 2 weeks i was so pumped about this that i handled it easily. Since then it got harder and the last 2 to 3 weeks, its like i have permanent crave. I am still talking myself out of having one, I'm not in immediate danger of doing so, however my fear is that this constant craving will slowly break down my will. I use only 1 nicorette a day now, so I am almost off this - I work now and again and am in decent shape, have a good diet, and have totally avoided all my strong triggers. however, the last few weeks this constant crave is there, and then its starts negotiating with will, and it becomes quite a heated debate. Right now my will is winning - Im just concerned about the craving getting in a lucky punch. I've read Carr's book early on and it helped them - any other input for this stage of the game thanks My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 62 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,258 Amount Saved: $186 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 3 Mins: 57 Seconds: 24

JQ5555 You did a great job by now. 62 days and 1,258 not smoked cigs are quiet a lot; congratulations! Kate is absolutely right plus youve already received wonderful advises so I can only suggest that you reread all passages concerning the little nicotine monster who demands to be fed.. in Allen Carrs Easy Way... :) Whish you more tranquil days to come, mitri My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 30 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 152 Amount Saved: $30 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 4 Mins: 19 Seconds: 2

I read your post and I personally (not a doctor or non-smoking expert) but I think you are still craving alot because you still have nicotine in your system. You say that you use nicorettes occasionally, maybe if you totally get off of them and really stop the nicotine, you will stop craving. This will mean a few days of withdrawl though. If you do try to stop all nicotine, make sure that you drink lots of water to flush out your system. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 56 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 854 Amount Saved: $235.2 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 6 Mins: 27 Seconds: 11
