Can you tell me about Heck Week?

for 18 år siden 0 53 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I seeeeee....so Heck Week is just a lighter version of Hell Week! I was kinda hoping I'd get a merit badge or a gold star or something. ;) Hey Sparky - I also read Allan Carr's book to prep me for stopping smoking. I wish I was like all those other folks who'd stopped and thought nothing of it, but being as I am a mere mortal, NRT's are the way for me! Thanks everyone for the tips! I'll keep ya posted on how I do! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/23/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 308 Amount Saved: $70 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 18 Mins: 3 Seconds: 31

Hello again everyone!! So, I've just about made it through Hell Week and I've heard a little about Heck Week. I was wondering if anyone could share some of the things they encountered during Heck Week? How is it different than Hell Week? And has anyone noticed how much more delicious those Dove dark chocolates are when you stop smoking!? Oh my, I could get into trouble with those!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/23/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 302 Amount Saved: $70 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 17 Mins: 41 Seconds: 56

Hi, Mercy! Congrats on coming to the end of your Hell week! I'm on my 2nd day of Heck week. The new habits are starting to take hold a little bit and it seems to be going a little faster than Hell week did. But, I agree with Sparky in that my quit is still fragile. You are right about the senses becoming keener. Foods taste sooo much better! You're doing great! Stay strong! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/22/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 343 Amount Saved: $45.6 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 20 Mins: 8 Seconds: 10

Heck week for me was just a little easier than Hell week. My new routines, being smoke free were becoming a little bit more habit forming and I was noticing many other changes -- better sense of taste, smell.. my skin was looking so much better (lost the circles around my eyes), my appetite had grown, as did the rest of me (that's another subject for a much later date to concern myself about!). I think as well that I was less on edge and was not reaching for the nicodemon.. as time goes on all the replacements, distractions which you implement in the early weeks become part of every day life. HOWEVER, guarding your quit with your life and never become complacent at any time. Everyone is different through hell week, heck week and all the weeks which follow. Hi Mercy I think that hell week is "hell" because we are going through intense physical & emotional withdrawal (yes...even if we are using nrt's). Sometimes we believe that if we get through those first 72 hours, everything will be fine but, for most of us, we still experience strong cravings even after hell week. These cravings gradually diminish and the quit gets easier. The most important thing to remember is that it DOES get better (and for some fortunate quitters there are no hell week or heck week!) Congrats on your first 7 days! Hi Mercy, Yup, Heck Week is slightly easier than Hell Week - but it's all worth it! You'll have practised your coping skills for a whole week, so you already know what to do. Spend some time thinking what lovely reward you can give to yourself at the end of Heck Week, it may just help you along the way! Mercy, In general, most members find heck week to be a little easier to bear than heck week however it's still tough. Congratulations on your first smoke free week! Be sure to reward yourself! Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team

Heck week for me was dangerous. Each person experiences maybe a little different. The main thing is don't smoke and don't become complacent. I would let up on my routines and let those stinking thinking toughts run though my mind. The second week for me was hard. I lost my quits during that time. Now that is what happened to me, others have had complete sucess. Just keep coming here. Read, post do what ever, just don't smoke and you will be fine ;p Everything taste better. We become full bodies here, just ask Windy. LOL. Hell week / heck week, are the same aren't they? All i know is i went to hell & back during the first 3 weeks. It was unfortunate that i done a bit of damage to some computer stuff around home during this time... but i digress. It's all a bit of a mind game during the first couple of weeks, untill your bodies metabolism soughts itself out... Cold turkey that is. & yeah, chockies are good. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 728 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 18,215 Amount Saved: $4732 Life Gained: Days: 104 Hrs: 9 Mins: 29 Seconds: 51
