DIZZINESS

I'm sure it is anxiety causing your dizziness, but another possible cause can be allergies. I'm not sure what part of the country you live in, but I know this time of the year in New York, the pollen counts are pretty high. I know how hard it is to deal w/ the dizziness, it is my most frightening symptom. You should also try to eat. Not eating does not help the dizziness. I would suggest trying to take Xanax XR. This is an extended release tablet and you will have 24 hour coverage. This medicine will still be in your system, so when you wake up in the morning, your anxiety will not be as high. You can always take regular Xanax along with it for immediate relief from breakthrough panic.I know from previous posts that you do not like taking anti-depressants, but you should try to stick them out. They really do work. Can the side effects make you feel worse than you already do? Sometimes we create our own side effects, because we are so mistrustful of a new medication. When you realize the medication will not harm you, you will begin to gain trust in them and start to feel better. If possible, try to take some vacation time from work, and start the medication then. You won't have the added pressure of having to function at work. Also, if you can, stay with a relative or friend during this time. If someone is with you, you may not be so afraid. SSRIs have helped so many get their lives back, it is worth giving it a try. Keep us posted.

Hi Miss, First there are a couple of things you could rule out on your own before seeking another doctor. Reason I say this, is because the dizzy episodes are happening at home, if there was truly something wrong, it would be happening throughout all hours of the days, and not just at home. Are you taking any new medication over the counter, ie, cold medicine, sleep aids, etc, when you get home, or rather in the last two weeks, since this is when it started to become more chronic for you? Second, is there anyone that you can spend ONE night with, where you arent alone, and see if the episode happens. If you get no episodes, its anxiety relating to the thoughts that you are subconsciencely thinking, that once you enter the door or approach your house, the symptom flares up. Also extreme dizziness, can be low blood pressure or high blood pressure, but it you have been seeing a doctor, they would have caught that earlier. Last, if none of these changes your episodes, and you just absolutely feel you need to see another doctor, only thing I can think of would be a neurologist. Trish

I have been having the worst dizziness (for about two weeks) in as long as I can remember.. It is the only physical symptom I get these days, from anxiety or panic. In the morning as soon as I open my eyes when I wake up I get this spinning feeling and horrible dizziness, before I even get out of bed. It scares the **** out of me!!! Then when I get the nerve to get up I feel like I'm gonna hit the floor, it goes on for at least an hour or so. This makes it very hard to get ready for work (cause I am working still) I live alone so I keep thinking I'm going to pass out and die alone!! I barely make it through work during the day, I think helps me to work because my mind is busy, but when I get home I get dizzy just walking in my front door. I usually have to lie down cause I can't really do anything. I have been having a hard time eating lately also cause I am so dizzy. I take Xanax as needed, but it requires a lot more than I use to take to calm me down, because this syptom is SO scary to me. I have even been sleeping in my clothes in case I have to go to the hospital in the middle of the night. I have discussed this with all my therapists who say "It's just your anxiety" and tell me to think positive and take slow deep breaths. That doesn't work!! I went to my MD he told me to take Lexapro. I'm scared to, I've heard it can cause dizziness and I can't handle anymore, I'll be bedridden. What other tests can I have done to find out what is making me so dizzy? I had a full blood workup done a month ago, they found nothing. Had my eyes checked. I saw an Ear nose and throat doctor, he ruled out my ears, balance and vertigo. What other kind of a doctor can I go to that will listen to me and help me to find out if there's something physically wrong before I try taking the Lexapro??? HELP I can't even focus while I'm typing on this dang screen!! What do I do?
