Ex slave please take the wellbutrin as prescribed, it really made a big difference for me when I started taking 2 a day. At first the doc was afraid I didn't have benefits so she only prescribed 1 a day for me, but i'm now on two and feeling much better about myself....oh yeah and the housework....sometimes its ok to say who cares! I just found out that a friend of mine - one that I didn't evn know had ever smoked - used the nicotine patch for 3 years, and is getting off of it just now. She's going through the withdrawals, her diabetes is getting worse, and blood sugar is fluctuating, and she's really having a time of it. Better to just get it over with now I think. Even though I agree that you should proably look into getting your medication changed or altered, I just want you to remember one thing - no matter what you go through... It won't last forever!! Just wanted to add - apparently the lozenges are supposedly OK to step down over 9 months. (I'm just about to drop down from 4mg ones to 2mg ones and I am waiting to see what effect that has on my metabolism/weight gain, since that's about the only reason I can see for easing down on them slowly.) Also, I had my blood pressure taken last week and it is now back to "normal" which for me, is LOW - so clearly the lozenges haven't raised mine! Ex-slave, Please consult your doctor. Smoking sometimes can mask depression as nicotine is a mood booster. Now that you are nicotine free, you medication may need to be adjusted accordingly. Also be sure to double check before increasing your dose. I hope you feel better soon. Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team

ex-slave, I'm so sorry that you are feeling so depressed. Freemom just may be right, you should talk with your Dr. I used a NRT but for only 70 days as it prescribed. I had a week or so that I didn't do anything, or go anywhere. Just did what I had to do and that was all. Since you have just been off of the NRT's for one week this could be your problem. Hang in there and stay strong, this will pass I promise... Hi Ex I've just been reading down your post and wanted to add a little something of my own. This might sound really really dumb however I'll risk it. You seem to be fixated on cigarettes and what you have lost. I believe that what we focus on grows so the more we think about a thing the more significant it becomes. So what if we tried to focus on something else - maybe something we love and that might be a positive distraction. It could be something like sewing, baking, reading, pampering ourselves, walking, reading magazines, looking at art, making art, making love? I'm willing to bet that there is something other than cigarettes that we could focus on. What would happen if we got our minds off cigarettes and on to something positive and we focused on that. Remember - what we focus on, grows. Please don't think that I am flippant about your feelings - depression can be a huge immobiliser and it can be really hard to create a shift. I really do understand this from my own personal experiences. But perhaps we could all try one small thing that brings a positive change and act on it. You have a 139 day quit and that is superb - be proud of yourself and big it up. You're pretty special for that alone and I bet in 100's of other ways too. Ex, I don't know if this might help you a little but I had a thought today... I know I am new at this quit thing but what the heck. I all of a sudden don't smoke anymore right? I have these feelings, I'll call them pains for the sake of my thought. They are there sometimes and sometimes I am pain free. My thought is what if I had a "real" chronic pain like arthritis or something? No matter how hard I wished the pain away it wouldn't go. There are things I can do to relieve it a bit but none the less I will probably live with this the rest of my life. I think if that happens we would just learn to deal with it. Maybe we just have to learn to deal with this situation and maybe with acceptance it will ease the "crazy thoughts"??? I probably didn't make any sense. HI Ex-slave, I too am feeling down and having a struggle. I don't want to go on too much but enough said that I am also craving and feeling lethargic. Reading your post I thought...perhaps, this depression actually has nothing to do with quitting smoking ! I think that it is easy to look at what is missing, or what has changed in our live's and then blame that for the way we are feeling. It's just theory, but it may be worth exploring. I'm going to do just that ! Examine other avenues and maybe find a totally unrelated cause. Hope you come right though. It is no fun ! Hi all, I understand what you are saying Rainie, But, honest to God; I hope this thinking of cigs goes AWAY. Those who have been quit longer than us say that the thoughts do go totally away. So, one foot in front of the other, girl..day by day. WE will get there...onward to freedom.
