I'm a Whiner

Thanks Sparky... this first week of school is tuff, with or without cigs. I'll be okay. I do need to change the lunchtime routine though, and I think that will help. I won't smoke. That would just make me witchier! NOPE for me! Gonna... that is a great idea. I've done yoga. I'll put together a plan of some yoga things I can do, and I'll ask my yoga teacher friend for some that I can just do in my office. Walking is also an option. We have an indoor track that should be available at noon. I just hate to do the all out sweat thing at lunch time! I'm an all or nothing person, if you can't tell... I had to be told to just do something a little lighter! lol Thanks! Oh... Windy... I chose carrots earlier. Also had to write them down on my grocery list! Thanks for your responses! I figured a little more of it out, but don't know what to change. It's going to be a project in progress! Here's what happens: I go to school, and I teach all morning... get the ole' adrenaline revved up to get me through the classes, and looking smart. lol So... it's noon - time to go smoke - gotta do something to get rid of this adrenaline! No... can't smoke anymore, so go out for lunch. That doesn't do it. I spent the entire afternoon unsettled, just going from one thing to another in my head and on my desk, and accomplishing little. It's the first of the semester, I have a ton to do, and I'll get it done... tonight! I need to figure out a way to get rid of the adrenaline between morning and afternoon. I use the afternoons to prepare for the next day, and need to be calm instead of all wound up! So... I'm thinking exercise might be the first thing I'll try. Tomorrow, I'll take clothes with me and at least go get on the treadmill for awhile. I'll keep you posted. One other question: The most nicorette I ever used was 4 of the 2 mg pieces the first day I quit. Over the weekend there were a couple days I didn't have any, when I was sick, and the past two days I had one piece each day, and today I didn't bother. I can't imagine that one piece of nicorette gives you much of a zing... what do you think? I'm whining today, because for the first time since I quit 11 days ago, I really wanted to smoke. I'm back at work, and stress makes me really want to smoke. When I don't care either way if I smoke, I'm usually doing a nice job of taking "care" of myself. Stress gets in my way of that. I get into a frame of mind where I don't care. I just want to smoke. I'm going to have to figure that one out. I know with every part of myself that smoking does not make me feel better, but it's a release. Excercise at lunch time would be great, but do I want to go through the entire shower thing in a locker room in the middle of the day? I guess I'll need to make that decision. It's still better than smoking. Sorry to take up space, but I needed to whine and vent a little. I've been so happy... until today. Gotta go crunch on some carrots! ARGH! Interesting, Your doing a great job of talking yourself through this bump in the road. Lot's of people can learn alot by you sharing. I found I had trouble concentrating at night more than during the day. I didn't know what to do with myself. I was patient with myself and continued trying and I also have worked through it just like your going to. Keep sharing and stay strong...your looking great at 10 days..almost through heck week!! WOOHOO!! Kaiti Respect the Quit!!! You're never just taking up space Interesting. You know, when I read the title of your post at a glance, I read it to say I'm Winning. And you are. You're not smoking. I'm impressed by your insight. That will be your key. Not in just not emitting smoke, but in transforming to a non-smoker with a life. Sorry to hear you're going over a speed bump today. You're still looking good to me. Hi Interesting - Whining is not only permitted...It is encouraged...As Kait said, this is not a pain-free journey - There will be bad days as well as good ... Personally, I think I had the all-time best whining record so it will be hard to beat. So........did you go to the gym?...crunch on carrots? Sounds like you can do this without the gum..... At lunch, like you, I don't want to do the shower thing after running or extensive exercise. On nice days I eat a small lunch followed by a short, brisk walk. If it is not nice, I have some yoga that I can actually do at my desk while sitting.....You need a break and I have found yoga to be so relaxing. Interesting, you are not whining. You asking for help. I have had that conversation way to often. Get rid of those thoughts as fast as you can. That kind of thinking took me right back to smoking and have to start all over again. You have 10 days count them 1,2,3,.............10!! Take deep breaths, drink water, go for a walk and talk out loud ;) tell yourself that you don't want to smoke and tell yourself why you don't want to smoke. Go somewhere alone and start laughing :eg: You don't want anyone to see you, they may think you have gone crazy. What I am saying do whatever you need to stay away from that first puff.
