Healer...you are always so wise and so encouraging. Can you bottle that up and send me some??? I am in need of a good attitiude these days, seems like I cry all the time. But despite of my pitty party, it really is getting better everyday. The mental battle is much worse than the physical withdraw...I just keep reminding myself of that when I am cranky and I know this too shall pass!!! Just a reminder that some folks absolutely cannot take melatonin...me for instance. So please, please check with your doctor and/or pharmacist to make sure that there are no interactions between "herbal" remedies and any other meds you might be taking. Members, All ideas and thoughts are welcome. To enforce Healerwithin's point, herbal supplements can provide great therapeutic benefits but know that natural alternatives aren't always safe. Some supplements have been shown to interact with medications, cause allergic reactions or aggravate certain medical conditions. We advise you to consult with your doctor or pharmacist before commencing any alternative therapy. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.

Pink, When you first quit or cut down, you may find it difficult to sleep as long as you used to. Two things can cause this are: 1. As a smoker your sleep may have been interrupted by constant coughing and/or difficulty breathing. When you stop smoking, your body gets healthier and the sleep you get is more restful. So if you wake up suddenly at 5:00 a.m., you may think you are a victim of insomnia. You're probably not! Your body has probably had all the sleep it needs. 2. Smoking drains your body's energy. When you quit smoking you regain this energy. You may need fewer hours of sleep. How long will this last? The first few weeks after quitting. Tips to help: Try making sure you have a regular sleeping schedule. If you wake up in the middle of the night do some light stretches, or read a book to help you get to sleep. If you have a symptom that persists or seems worse than you expected, you should immediately consult a doctor. Its possible that your smoking has been masking symptoms of some illness, and when you stop smoking the symptoms abruptly become noticeable. Melanie _______________________ The SSC Support Team
