Just letting you know I'm still here. I am now on 30mg/day of Cipramil and doing pretty well. I'm just about ready to give the last 0.25mg of Xanax the flick because the Cipramil is making me sleepy enough to fall asleep. I'm reclaiming my life. Panic doesn't scare me like it used to. Sure its annoying but life goes on. I'm ready to take part in my life again. Things in my life are starting to be less about panic which is something I am really happy about. I'm not yet back to full time work but I'm getting there and I have made some possitive changes to help me. Still in regular therapy and I'm grateful for it. It is so good to have someone to talk to who doesn't have an emotional stake in how you feel. My parents are staying with me for a few days at the moment. Its a little cramped which bothers me a bit but I'm concentrating on loving my parents and having a good time with them. (I don't get to see them often and they did bring gifts;) ) Chirstmas is not far away and I'm not as worried about it as I thought I would be. I have been out with friends at night in crowded noisy pubs and while I have chosen not to drink I have had a really great time. I am the proud godmother to a little girl. She is adorable and gives me lots of hugs. (well she has puked and ****ed on me but I take that as a sign of affection) Hope you all are pushing through. You really have been a great source of encouragement for me. Adele

Just an update on my progress. I have been on Cipramil for a while now. I still take Xanax at night but only 0.25mg. I cut down from 0.5 mg last night and no probs. Since I last wrote:

my parents visited for 4 days
I had a lump on my leg scanned at a hospital and felt no panic
I had a lump in my breast screened which took about 3 hrs and I felt no panic
I went out to dinner at a restaurant at night and ate
Went to a family lunch in a town 45 mins from home and ate talked and shrugged with the tiniest bit of anxiety
am staying longer at work and doing more difficult things at work and getting through my day in a generally happy way
I like who I am regardless of what other people say or do. :)

Tired of panic: I am the one who brought up the Xanax XR - they are new, but available in the US - check around - you can find them and they are a godsend - once you get used to your dosage, no drowsiness and no ups and downs of this 4-6 hour stuff. Let me know how you do! Kelly

Sorry tired of panic, I don't actually know anything about them. Kelly recommended them to me and I asked my Psychiatrist and he said that they are not available in Australia. Can anyone else enlighten tired of panic about Xanax XR?

Yay, Adele! When you have a victory, no matter how small, don't hesitate to post about it in the Success Story forum. Every step reached is awesome! It sounds like you are really tuning in to your thoughts, their impact, and intervening. That's wonderful. A blue ribbon!

Tough week. Tough chick. I felt kinda depressed and tired until today but I'm still here and still recovering. Just went for a fantastic walk so I'm pumped up with happy hormones. Still on the Cipramil 20mg/day. Sleep was a little better last night. Its amazing how that can make a difference. I feel like I have had a very rewarding day both at work and for myself. I feel good that I got through my work load and helped some other people with some of theirs. Then with my walk... I walked up a mountain. Ok a very long steep hill. The walk was about 50 mins in total. At the top of the hill I was puffing like a $2 *****. At that time a thought came into my head. "I'm breathing too hard....... this is panic". I noted the thought, labelled as catastrophising, and let it go. I didn't buy into it, I didn't try and replace it, I didn't ignore it, I didn't try to distract myself from it and I didn't beat myself up for having it. I just noted that the thought was there and labelled it and let it go. Hooray for me!!! I rock. The view from the top was doubley rewarding and the walk back down was accompanied with a smile. Its a small step. I might do it again tomorrow. I'm starting to really like exercising and how it makes me feel.
