Need help again...Paxil to Paxil CR to Zoloft?

I am so glad you guys are wondering about this. Beccause I've basically got the same situation going on except the other way around. I started taking zoloft when I was 19 or 20. It has worked wonderfully. Ifelt so much better even right at first. But I am now 27 years old and I have been needing to take more xanax for about the past year I'd say. So I am wondering if switching to paxil would be good for me, cuz I'm kinda scared to do that. If you are on a low to med amount of zoloft it will be great for you. I started off on a low dose (50 mg) and went to 100 mg and then I moved away from home only a couple of hundred miles but still considering I wouldn't drive 3 miles from home alone, I'd say thats pretty good. Anyway, I was doing great with the 100 mg and then a year ago I really don't know what happened but all of a sudden I started having more panic attacks and so I ultimately am now taking 200 mg. So basically it worked great for 6 to 7 years. Not that I think you should only be panic free for the next half a decade or so but it works at first. I hope I gave you a little insite. let me know how you do/are doing. Shea

Thanks Shanna! I'm only 31 and have an 11 year old son and I agree. I need to be here for him, plus I'm still young and I want to have fun. Sitting at home terrified is not fun!! I did not hear back from my Dr. today so I'm going to call first thing in the morning. I also started the 12 week program today on this sight and everything is so TRUE!! I'm going to finish it!! It seems like it will help alot.

Hi beth When i switched from the paxil cr to the zoloft it seemed to work alot faster my doctor said that if would since i already had the paxil in my system for a couple weeks. The only real side effect i had was that i got really sleepy so my doctor told me to take it night, before i go to bed. He also gave me a scrip for xanax which i only take half if i really need to if i know i can't make it through the day but i've had that scrip since january and it is still full. So you can tell the zoloft is working cause i'm just like you they came back in full force worse than i remembered them being before. I was scared to take the zoloft at first to cause of how the paxil effected me but who knows maybe it will do the same for you as it has for me lets hope!! When my attacks came back after 4 or so years it happened in the car with my daughter and it freaked me out so bad that i did not drive or leave my house for a month and i did not want to be like that i'm 24 years old and still have a whole life ahead of me and need to be there for my daughter, and the zoloft made that happen. I felt better about a week into taking it, was able to leave and drive again. My mom always told me don't read the side effects then you won't have them so now i don't read them on anything anymore and i swear she is right nothing ever happens. But i think that it should be an easy switch for you cause it's the same thing i had to do so i hope that it works for you. Good luck and let me know how everything goes. Shanna

Those of you who read my other thread know that my Dr. switched me from regular 20mg Paxil to 25 of Paxil CR about 2 weeks ago and the panic has come back awfully. So now he wants me to try Zoloft. I am scared to death! I want to feel normal again. I felt normal for 4 years and I don't like this. I am also supposed to be starting a new job and those of you who KNOW how about these attacks know how awful they can get. When switching to Zoloft what should I expect? Should it be an easy transition from the Paxil CR??
