Well my God. Today has been like day after night; like sunshine after the rain; like the calm AFTER the storm; like spring after winter. If I compare how today has gone after how I felt yesterday. Today has been lovely. So, I have learned two new things now. The first is, I have learned something about life without smokes. I got angry and resentful last night. About a whole heap of slly things - though some justififed. And it strcuk me that if I want to remain smoke-free, I had to do something about what was causing those feelings, or I'd end up reachings for cigs. So I thought about what was really bugging me, thought about how to tackle that in a positive way and, without screaming, nagging or anything else nasty, sorted some stuff out with my kids. We have some new ground rules, we had some new behaviour today and we had a nice day that felt like we achieved things. Second thing I learned, that even when the day is as tough as tough can be, when somebody tells you "Hang on in there. It gets better" even when your head it saying "It WONT. It can't POSSIBLY. I can't LIVE like this" open your heart and have some faith. Because sure as eggs is eggs, it DOES get better. Thanks guys. Hell week is almost over. Is taking a brisk walk an option? That may help - sometimes physical activity and moving around will ease your mind. Keep up with the deep breathing and as my husband always says "Chill Lax"! How you doing now Serenity? Like Pam says, they don't call this Hell Week for nothing! I know it's hard, but just ride them out. Try not to dwell on your thoughts....get a up and do something to try and take your mind off it. I know how bad it feels .... but you gotta get through this to get to the other side. It does get better, but it takes a little time ok? Take it nice and slow, one hour at a time if necessary. You can do this ...stay strong!
