Sore mouth?

Glad to hear you are feeling better Lady A. This Heck Week will probably be a bit smoother for you than Hell Week. As Marie always sez, just a day at a time. I had days where some of the physical side affects of the quit had me doing the quit "moments at a time". As was mentioned, I too think our subconscious will manifest common symptoms with a little twist to shake us up a bit. Just to try to tilt us off balance in order to find a weak point to get us to smoke. Being aware of this helps me considerably. However with your heart issue, best not to discount getting a doc's advice should anything more up come, eh? Just think 10 DAYS for you today, . . . isn't that amazing! Isn't it just wonderful NOT to smoke, NOT TO HAVE to smoke! :) Ericon My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 473 Amount Saved: $94.25 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 12 Mins: 28 Seconds: 50

Hey LadyArwen, Glad to hear that you are feeling better. I agree with you whole heartedly on making Ciggies illegal.. But you know that the gov't makes too much money on the taxes stupid people like us pay on them... LOL.. Not no More!!! I have the SSC messenger running in the evenings (my time, which is GMT) so if you need a chat give me a shout. I would post my email address but I think it would just be deleted by the mods. Krissie Non Smoker for 1M 4D 9h 25m (35 days). Saving 156.78 by not puffing on 707 ciggies. I will live 2D 10h 55m longer.

Congrats on 9 days!! Awesom Like I said - I had a sore mouth for several weeks.. sometimes i still get a sore throat for a short period and it goes away. My gums bled a lot too - I didn't have "sores" in my mouth, but like you it was sore, and it bled. I also had nose bleads and my ears bled. Like I said, i am pretty sure that most of is was because I was getting good circulation agian and I wasn't before (I was a 3 pack a day smoker). Also, he mucas that used to line our mouths, throats and tubes to protect them from the heat and smoke cleared away so that the tisse was exposed for the first time in a very long time. You know? These are just theories I had, and if you have thse syptoms for a very long time, you should go to the doctor. I had an appointment for 1 month into my quit, and the bleading and soreness had stopped by the time I got in there. My mouth was very very sore for a few weeks. I know that part of it was that the mucus was clearing away, and part of it was because I was getting good circulation to my mouth, and I wasn't when I was a smoker. Hey Ladyarwen, Depending on what you mean sore and where sore. I get sinusitis, hayfever, allergies and because of that i get pain in the roof of my mouth and back of my throat, is it that kind of pain? It could be that your body is getting used to not having all those nasty chemicals making contact with your mouth and it may become "tender". I dont remember if i had the same thing at 8 days but it doesnt mean it didnt i just dont remember. As Josie mentioned, please see a doc if it persists. PrincessC :) x

Lady Arwen Hi do you mean gums are sore,if so I had it too in the beginning , you see when you smoke the tissues in your mouth protect themselves from the smoke, when you quit you don't need that protection anymore so they become tender for a while until they get used to the new cleaner environment. Isn't the human body wonderful? Congratulations on one week smoke free, be very proud of yourself this is huge. Keep on fighting the good fight one day at a time :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 76 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,153 Amount Saved: $304 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 3 Mins: 26 Seconds: 43

Ladyarwen, If you'd like to help others why don't you compose a post overviewing your past 11 days. Talk about the strategies you've used, rewards... Everybody learns from everyone here, this thread alone is sure to help someone out there who's facing the same problem. So happy to see you standing strong @ 11 days! Congratulations! We are very proud of you! Danielle ___________________________ The SSC Support Team
