Last few days have been hard, really wanted to smoke

Niks, It's amazing how that NicoDemon will lie in wait for you to lapse. Believe me, he (or she?) gets weaker as your Quit gets longer and stronger. The Demon creeps up behind me from time to time. Not advisable! A kick from the hind legs of a horse is something you don't forget in a hurry! NIKS! Hold on! This will pass, just like in the beginning. It is temporary and just try to hang on to your quit. I know you can do this, Niks. Look at your 45 days...aren't you proud? I am proud of you! Don't let that junkie in your head seduce you back into the smoke and mirrors...it is not worth it! Stay strong! Niks I recognize this. I did this myself. My mind would go to oh well it doesn't matter. ... Well it does matter. Dig in find your strength. You are so blessed that you know that it is the addict part of you saying that. You will make your way through and good for you for posting and really letting all of us know your process and what is going on for you. Now dig in. On foot in front of the other. It would be very nice to sit in front of your tent and enjoy a wonderful piece of dark chocolate or whatever works for you. Just don't smoke. You can do this. Thumbs up. Niks... You are fighting the good fight. Don't give up now. You can smoke anytime you want but aren't you glad you choose not to. It is a horrible addiction. Nicodemon is getting really upset and laying it on thick right now because he knows he's about to lose another addict. That's right... You are almost to the point where things start to get a whole lot easier. I've been around a long time now and I've seen many, many quitters go through this. You have to dig deep inside you and grab every bit of strength you can get your hands on. That demon wants you bad and your junkie thinking is working over time. One is too many and 1,000 will never be enough. When I was around day 55 I went through this too for a period of about 3 or 4 days. I even posted just like you. The post is called "This Really Sucks" and it did suck. If I can find it I will bump it up for you. Then a few days later, I woke up feeling free. Really free. You are so close now. Don't give up on yourself. You are fighting for your life and it is worth it. I use to say: When I smoked, I wanted a cigarette all the time; now that I don't, I only want one some of the time. Hang on tight Nics. You can do this. One step at a time, one day at a time. Chin up. Kick, scream, cry, break dishes, whatever it takes, just don't smoke! NIks, You just made the excellent point to another scc member that smoking is an anti social drug. People who smoke are using drugs. Remember your own mind, Niks. Has something happened that has made you want to isolate yourself? Spend some time alone; but no smoking. Regain your peace and resolve to remain drug free. I know it is soooo hard at times; but you will be so happy to get through this very tough crave w/o smoking. It will make your quit even stronger. You will be proud, instead of disappointed in yourself. Hang tough! niks, where you at???? Stressful triggers, like a camping trip, are difficult to handle in the first few months. Have you been camping as a non smoker yet? If not, sitting around the campfire or relaxing with a fishing pole will probably be a strong trigger to smoke. Understand it for what it is. Smoking can kill us. Stay strong. a big congratulations niks. YOu have overcome a big trigger..your camping trip, AND drinking beer. Now you know that you can do both without having to smoke. DO NOT feel cheated about not being able to smoke occassionally. Don't even try it! One is too many, and a thousand is never enough. Great job staying smober. BE proud of yourself. I am sooooo proud of you. I know that it was challenging. Tell you boyfriend that I said, "Never let her smoke, even if she begs" HA HA! Good guy to have around.
