Paxil vs Zoloft??

for 21 år siden 0 4 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hey I took Zoloft for one year and I loved it!!! I felt drugged up a little bit for about 1 week, food tasted weird as well. I wasn't tired but I felt liek I had taken a muscle relaxer. Anyway, after 1 month I was able to take a plane trip and go to an amusement park and wait in long lines and stay home by myself. I was off it for 8 months and my panic came back. My therapist put me on Paxil CR 12.5mg then upped it to 25mg. Well I don't feel excited about anything and I am able to walk to the grocery store with my boyfriend but I still don't feel EXCITED to be home alone or to do things, I am reluctent to do them and when I am heading home I feel better!!!! I am not sure if I need the Zoloft again or a higher dose of Paxil. MEds work different for everyone but Zoloft was great for me

Thanks Kevin....I got the reverse on the Paxil vs Ativan. THe Ativan just made me sleepy, and not give a hoot about anything stressful. Hey, in today's world that's not too bad. :) BUT Paxil, phew...never again. Thanks too Jaime...good point, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. :) I have spent the the past two days at home and am ok, but when I drove up the street I felt a little detached and fearful of "everything". This panic thing stinks!!! I feel like such a freak. Have you all read any decent books out there that can help?

If you have gotten better and aren€™t having attacks then don€™t start on Zoloft, it€™s still an SSRI and not the best thing for you, I would just wait and if they come back then start taking it but why be on a heavy medication if you don€™t need to be?

with paxil I felt like myself. ativan made me feel doped up, so did lopressor (sp), but I promise you after 3 days of taking zoloft you will feel just fine. I have taken up to 250mg of it, and worse that happened was I felt tired for 3 days. I may suggest saint johns wort. my GF took that for a year and it did wonders for her, I never took it cause my mom is the kind of person who only thinks "drugs" are the way to go, but im currently looking for an herbal way to go, and all the research ive done on saint johsn wort was good. it even fights OCD, the sideaffect of it? It photosensitizes (sp) your skin a bit...but! that helps you fight off viruses including HIV. but remember im not a doctor nor a professional, only offering my experiences and my research. best wishes to you! Thanks you two...I appreciate the feedback. I guess now I I have "pillaphobia" hehehe. That Paxil scared the poop out of me to the point I am terrified of the Zoloft. A pharmacist friend told me that they are both in the same family and would probably have the same side effects, but from what I am reading, I shouldn't fear the Zoloft . Did you all have any dizziness or "drugged up" feeling from the Zoloft, or just felt "like you" minus the panic attacks?? Thanks again for all of the input, it;s nice to know I'm not alone with the Paxil episodes, I was beginning to think the side effects were all in my head!

hello, I had taken zoloft for many years, it seemed to wear off and not work, they kept increasing my dosages. but nothing would happen. I must say, that since I got on zoloft and even though ive been off for over a year. im panic attack free. I still have a few here and there but im ok. side affects of zoloft I had: felt tired for 3 days....thats it, I stoped zoloft cold turkey a few times, and the worse I got was "zaps" for mabey a week, but they were mild zaps. my thought is, you should take zoloft over paxil, from all the people I know who take it, they all describe it as "mild sideaffects"....we all know with paxil there are some very scarey things with it. I hope I helped, feel free to e-mail me at Deriumofls@hotmail.com if you want to talk wish you the best

HI allison Welcome to the group! I've had panic attacks since I was 15 years old and they went away 3 years after that and now I'm 24 and they have returned and were alot worse then they were then, this time i to had agoraphobia i couldn't leave my house or drive my car by myself. So my doctor put me on paxil cr 25mg of it and it made my attacks ten times worse i lost 9 pounds in 3 days and was really sick and i stopped taking it and was fine then went back to the doctor who then put me on zoloft and now i'm fine I'm back to myself no more agoraphobia and I can drive by myself again I have been on it for about 3 1/2 months now and feel great. I hope you decide to take it hopefully it will work for you like it has for me. But good luck with everything and keep in touch and let me know how its working k? shanna

Someone please throw some advice this way. I have been suffering panic attacks (and agoraphobia) for over a year after a near death experience. I have been on Ativan as needed during that year and seemed to help, then out of the blue they have been worse than ever and I think about them 24/7. My Dr. put me on Paxil last week and after 3 days I couldn't take it any more. Dizziness, nausea, and totally drugged up and not coherant kind of feeling. I couldn't even get out of bed to get to work. Never before, I wanted to just die. I had to stop taking it!! I went to a psycologist the day I went off and that seemed to help a little. BUT, will it be all I need??? I have been off Paxil 3 days and I feel like half a million bucks....almost back to the way I was a yr ago. My doctor now wants me to go on Zoloft and I am scared sick. Any advice out there?? Can therapy be enough?
