Dont Quit too much!!

for 18 år siden 0 25 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Try to keep yourself busy. Take a walk and try to put your mind on something else. Do some housework if you are at home or read email and surf the net if you are at work to get your mind off of it. Hope it will pass soon. -TT

Yes, quitting too much at once may not do you good. I still remember the first time I quit ( quit all -- coffee, alcohol, and cig.), it was so horrible that my head was so foggy, my mind couldn't concentrate, and my heart wanted to jump out that I had to admit to hospital. If you stop smoking, but dont want to stop caffein then reduce the amount intake. It definitely helps. However, remembere that caffein can easily trigger smoking. Exercise and Keep Busy. I hope you feel better soon. -TT

Ok here goes I tried to overburden my self by trying to quit Caffeine and Smoking and I can tell you first hand it is not a good idea to try to quit too much at the same time!! My advice as my boss always says is one thing at a time Guys!! I guess I beccame overly ambitious ~ try not to cut out or overdose on the comforts too much as I tend to do going from one extreme to another!! Needless to say Caffeine Quit only lasted a day and a half!! xx My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 268 Amount Saved: 71.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 22 Mins: 5 Seconds: 59

Shaila the idea of it all is to pamper yourself, your quit comes first, I love coffee and I still have my 2 cups everymorning. :)Marie By the way keep on fighting the good fight one day at a time My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 78 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,177 Amount Saved: $312 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 8 Mins: 20 Seconds: 48

Hi Shaila. Yes it's true not to take on too much all at once. Sometimes if your smoke went hand and hand with your caffeine, you might want to cutback on the caffeine so your triggers are less. If you drank caffeine all day, maybe cut down to 2 a day. Also, if your caffeine was non diet soda, you will also cut out a lot of calories which will be huge for weight control during your quit. Good luck!! Shaila, You can also try mixing your coffee with hot chocolate. Worse comes to worse, you drink a lot of coffee and cut down once your more secure in your quit. MC gave you a great suggestion, get up and get moving! Have some fun! You deserve it, you've been working really hard. Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

It's all part of the quit, Shaila. You might try changing where your caffeine is coming from. If you drank coffee, try tea. (That's what I did. I will have a cup o' joe every now and again but I've actually come to prefer the Proper Cup o' Tea in the AM!) Or, maybe Iced Tea. Or try switching off w/ decaf tea: one cup of leaded followed by one cup of unleaded. Whatever you do, just keep reminding yourself that this will pass. The hyperness is perfectly normal. Make use of it: Do something you used to have no energy for! When I was going thru the Hyper-stage I took up Speed-walking. (Hmmm...I need to get back to that...) Tell your co-workers that you've quit and they'll just have to be patient w/you for a little while. They should congratulate you and support you. Let us know how it goes. FYI: Fresh Air Freaks is a club that was started by a group of quitters who found this site to be a stronger addiction than the cigs, (nothing unhealthy about that!) And we're all turning one year right about now...Whatever makes the quit stick, I say! Cold Turkeys LOVE quitters! mc My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/31/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 365 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,480 Amount Saved: $1460 Life Gained: Days: 35 Hrs: 13 Mins: 8 Seconds: 57

If you do want to cut back on your caffeine, try mixing your regular coffee with decaf. When I quit I switched to half and half at first for a bit, then to 1/3 caffeinated and 2/3 decaf. I've found if you add a bit more decaf than you would have used caffeinated the flavor stays about the same. Keep up the good quit, Shaila.
