Love-Hate Relationship with Caffine

Vit C is certainly good for you, but I feel it's necessary to add a little note that the daily recommended dose should not be exceeded. It is excreted by the kidneys and too much can cause problems.

Hi Crimson Roses (lovely name!) Try vitamin C if you need an energy boost but don't want the caffein. I often mix half a teaspoon of vitamin C powder and some sugar with whatever drink I'm having before going out. Cheers, Marianne

Hi Roses. Congratulations on that discovery. Caffeine can indeed increase anxiety. Many of us can understand the push before exams or term papers. What I would recommend is first to keep a tally of the caffeine intake you ingest on a daily basis. It's sometimes quite surprising when it's all added up, as there's some in many sodas as well. Then begin to diminish it. (Cutting it out completely will give you withdrawal headaches for a day or two and may make you feel 'vacant' in terms of memory during that time.) As you diminish it, keep notes in your Panic Diary about it. You may find that two cups per day (the recommended amount by the medical community) is sufficient to keep you going without causing any harm. Let us know how you're doing, and keep us informed of your progress?

Hello all, I am 16 years old and just started posting here about a month ago. I have been working super hard to figure out the triggors that set off my panic attacks and I think one of them is caffine. For a teen, this is very very very frustrating! I am used to having foods and drinks with caffine in them, and often use them to give me a boost when I pull all-nighters before exams and essays. I am also not on any medication for anxiety disorder, because I am in a sence afraid to take it. So here is my problem, I love the foods/drinks, but hate the panic attacks. Is there a way that I can kick out the caffine without going crazy? Or will I just have to put up with the panic attacks? ~Roses
