ex-slave, I completely understand where you are coming from! A smoke was our break and our reward for EVERYTHING!!!!!! So now, you MUST set up a reward plan... there are cheap and free rewards. Here's my reward plan, just to give you some ideas. Everyday free rewards: Coming to the site Playing computer games Watching a movie Taking a nice, long, hot bubble bath Weekly Rewards: Cold Stone Creamery or QDoba once a week Then, the monthly and big milestone rewards are usually bigger and differ quite a bit, BUT the daily and weekly rewards are JUST as important as the big ones. Don't forget to treat yourself, even if that treat is just time to relax... that's a reward in and of itself! Crave the Quit! YES I MISS THE "REWARD" AS WELL. I ALSO GET DEPRESSED AT TIMES AND WAS VERY CLOSE TO SMOKING AGAIN BUT I CAME TO THIS SITE AND IT REALLY HELPED ME. STAY STRONG AND REMEMBER WE ARE ALL HERE FOR YOU. WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER!! AND TAKE THE CIG MONEY AND BUY SOMETHING WITH IT. IT IS MONEY THAT YOU WOULD HAVE SMOKED AWAY. TREAT YOURSELF GOOD. YOU DESERVE IT AS WE ALL DO. I have been a little depressed lately. I think it is because at certain times during the day when I usually smoked, I get this awful feeling that there is nothing to look forward to. After work, Yeah! a smoke, on break, YEAH, a smoke, after dinner, YEAH a smoke. You get it. Now I get this empty, restless feeling of depression. I need to have something to look forward to during the day. Something besides FOOD! Thanks Mr. Ed, I know that life is better without smoking. Thanks for reminding me. I have a friend staying with me that has cigs. He had quit for 2 1/2 months; went and bought a pack. I have chewed alot of straws since he moved in. But, I haven't asked him for a smoke. That is progress for me. I spoke to a friend at work today. It was her first day w/o smoking. She has tried at least three times in the past year. The conversation with her helped me get excited about being smoke free. Her words were, "I want to take control of my life back." I think that she is ready this time. I still have that empty feeling; but look forward to the day that it is gone. It's pretty normal too to get a bit under-excited with your quit around this time. It'll get better. Try to find really rewarding rewards like things you "never had time to do". Start a scrapbook (keeps the hands busy), put together a photo album, any hobbies you've always wanted to try? What things can you do now that you couldn't or wouldn't as a smoker?
