Good Morning...
I regret I did not see this 'grocery store helpful
hints' post sooner. Facinating, actually. This list is definately one to print out.
Allowing me to put my two cents in, here are my biggest problems in the 'grocery store' - imagined or not.
1. I feel like I am surrounded by a bunch of strangers - which, in most case, I am. The looks on there faces when they look at me, freak me out a little.
2. For some reason, I feel exposed. To what, I really don't know - I feel like everyone is looking at me and just know I am going to do something weird at any moment. Probably 'me' just remembering freaking out in grocery stores - how could they know?
3. The 'lights' in most grocery stores seem eerie to me, those phosphorescent ones. Sorta shock my eyes or something (a trigger of some sort, maybe)
4. And, of course the build up to actually driving there - getting out of the car with sweaty palms and feet, one foot in the car and one foot out - ready to drive home in total panic - to perceived safty - realizing, though, that I really really need that toilet paper or cream for my coffee!! :)
So, to counteract all those fears, I just go to the grocery when 'absolutely necessary' - affirm to myself I can turn around if need be - 'no problem' - I only buy very few items - 'never' a whole cart full - no way - so I can get in and out quicker!!
Then, of course, I praise myself for accomplishing 'whatevertask' it was and feel good about myself - no matter if it was just to go get one item. Every accomplishment over panic deserves a pat on the back from ourselves!!
Happy shopping :) !!
