Hi Rich, I can honestly tell you that I found that it really helped me to find solace in God as well. I will pray for you. I hope you succeed. Michelle

I hope to completely stop taking my xanax by reading my bible every sunday and attending church once a month. I know this isn't what the drug companies would want me to do. So maybe thats a good reason to do it. Please pray for me seriously.

Anne-Marie, You are right about the rubber band. I once took a holistic coarse by Quinn Comm Communications, Lou Tice and this was one of the methods used to notice negative self talk. I think it did work back then. I will give it a try. Thanks, Michelle

Hi Marrieanne, I hope that it does you as good as it did me. I am glad to hear that it could help. Thanks for being so supportive that means a lot to me. Thank you Michelle

Alittle re-focusing aid is to wear a rubber band on the wrist and snap it whenever thoughts begin to wander. -- Anne-Marie, Site Administrator

Hi Michelle, Thanks for the prayer! Although I'm not a religious person it has touched something in me, it just feels right, maybe because it takes away the guilt and the duty to fight. I'll print it out and keep it in my wallet for emergencies. Thanks again! Marianne

Hi Anne-Marie, Most of the meetings I can not ask for a break. I find that I become even more uncomfortable trying to focus on the person speaking. Yes, I do find that when I am distracted my mind begins to wonder and then I notice the symptoms sneaking up.

Michelle, do your meetings last a long time? Can you suggest a break sometimes? What happens when you focus on the person speaking and on what is being said? It is when your mind begins to wander that you get anxious? -- Anne-Marie, Site Administrator

Hi Mariann, Here is the release prayer that I use, it is from a self help book, Beyond Anxiety and Phobia, by Edmund J. Bourne, ph.D. Anyways, Dear God, I have done all I know to heal this problem- And have tried every resource within my knowledge and power. I now turn this over to your care. I acknowledge my own inability To will this difficulty away, As its source lies deeper than my own conscious will. I know, however, it is not beyound Your Power, And that nothing is impossible through God. So I ask that You help me to heal this situation. Bring light into this darkness And restore peace to my mind and heart. I am grateful that You already know the way. Even if I do not. I now let go in trust and faith- Knowing that it is through your perfect love and grace That I may be restored to wholeness. Amen Of course this is not for everyone and deffently do not want to affend anyone. Michelle

Hello again, I agree, it's the letting go bit that's crucial. It's all to do with trust and control, I think. When I'm feeling well it all makes sense and I understand that I need to let go and just let it do its business, but once the panic hits me all the understanding goes out of the window, unfortunately. Well, maybe I don't go down quite as deep, but it's still bad enough. I'd love to see the release prayer you mention. If it has helped you chances are it may do me/other people some good, too. Would you like to post it? Marianne
