I've had this problem. Doc told me to apply Cortaid to the site I was going to apply it about 10 minutes before I put the patch on. Let the area dry and apply the patch. It really helps. Also put it on after you take the patch off and change the location of the patch daily. Good luck
Hi Cassy,
Are you always putting it in the same place? The site where the patch is being applied should be rotated. Ex: Switching between the right arm and the left arm.
If you're already doing that, you may have developped a sensitivity to the patch. If the itching continues or worsens or if you notice any new symptoms arising please consult your doctor. He/she will be able to offer you an alternative to the patch taking into consideration your medical history.
Don't worry. If you're doctor recommends you discontinue your use of the patch there are still many options for you to choose from.
Keep us posted,
Danielle

cassy,
Make sure you move the patch to a different location. I had a hard time getting the sticky stuff off my arms. When I was in the patch it itched a few minutes about an hour or so after i put it on. Good luck
check the brands they are different

Each manufacturer of the patch uses a different adhesive, some people are allergic or have a reaction to the adhesive in on brand and not another. Check with your pharmacist or doctor.

Cassy, it is the adhesive that causes the irritation because it contains alcohol. As well as the other advice try taking the backing off and waving about for a few minutes (to evaporate the alcohol)before applying to the skin.

Hi Everyone,
I have a few questions about the patch. I have been on it since I quite smoking, yesterday it started getting ichy. Why after almost 3 weeks? If I cant wear it anymore what do I do? I really dont think that I am ready to go without it. I still have my days were is that I really want a smoke. Without the patch I am scared that I just might.
Anyone have any suggestions for me.
Thanks Cassy
