Age and Panic

Hi, Beth. Interesting post. To tell the truth, i think I suffered from PA's when I was quite young, but didn't recognize them as such and our parents probably didn't know that much about them in order to get help for us. We didn't talk that much as youngsters about things like this. I founf that I douldn't talk about something that I didn't understand. i remember one day in elelmentary school, that I just ran into the house and flopped on my bed crying, saying .."nobody loves me"... It came out of nowhere that I can remember or maybe I had had a fight with my playmate. So long ago, but till remember it. My mom and dad didn't undertand, and just said, oh, do be so silly; now go back out and play. Do I know what I wanted or what I was asking for at the time? no. Because I didn't understand it myself. And in my elementary years in school, like learning to draw, etc. everytime I did a picture, i was forever showing the teacher and saying.."see! see what I just did? Was I looking for appoval?Who knows. And for children to try to understand what is happening to them is scary and maybe they're afraid someone will say, you're just crazy!!! Don't be silly. I would find it hard to catigorize into ages. Some triggers start when you are an infant and some start with a specific reaction to something. Who's to know. As I said, very interesting post. Maybe someone else can add a little.***LUV, SUZY. :quest:

Sorry, just a bit more. Do you think that younger people are more resilient with regards to panic? Do you think that the longer you have it, the more difficult it is to get rid of? Do you think that its possible that we get used to it, and give up fighting it as whole, and instead focus on fighting it one panic attack at a time? As we live longer with it, we forget the possibility of living without it? Sorry that there are so many questions. I'm just so interested to learn as much as i can about this thing. For so long, all i've had are my own experiences, and its so nice to have others who i can actually ask questions to! Thanks everyone for any thoughts or opinions you have! Beth

Hi Everyone, I was just writing a posting to Marianne, and had a question. Does anyone have thoughts about someone's age and their panic attacks? Do you think that its possible that people who are similar ages and have panic disorders tend to have similar experiences and triggers for their panic attacks? Obviously therer would be differences b/wn a child's panic attack triggers and an adult's, i was just wondering whether adult panic attacks could be categorized more specifically according to life circumstances and status, or quality of life. The reason i ask, is b/c in reading everyone's postings, i notice that certain people relate more than others. For instance, those with children seem to really understand each other. I guess that this may be an obvious observation, but i thought that it might be interesting to discuss it a little bit. Beth
