Today was the first day I went and spent time at the beach, and swam in the ocean since August. I had hurt my ankle last time, and it put a major impact on my ocean activity. I was depressed and so I chained smoked myself into a grey mess before I came back here. My ankle has healed enough for me to return to the ocean. This time it was ever better. I have lived on Maui since I was a kid, and I have never gone to the beach in 23 years with out cigarettes. I couldn't believe how absolutely wonderful it was to lay there in the sea ever aware of every sense around me. The Hawaiian name for ocean is Nalu, back when I tried to quit last year that was the name I picked for this site. The green sea turtle poked his head out of a surf line, and all I love became whole. I spent a good part of my visit walking the shore line as before as a smoker I use to pick up other people's cig butts from my sea. This time I did it with out having one of my own to smoke, this time it was not out of guilt for being a smoker, this time it was just a natural course of things to do.
Thank you. all of you Today was wonderful. I would not have had it with out all the people on this site. Thank you... Smoke free on Maui. Aloha Nalu....
