X-Smoker, I discussed this in another posting, in response to your question, but I thought I would post it here too. I DID have trouble with working out and the patch. I thought it made my heart beat too fast and I had to take it off. When I did, I felt better. I am no expert and it depends on your level of fitness and the exercise you choose, but in my experience, working out with the patch is not a good idea. I admire your attitude also. We can lick this addiction! :) Mira

Hi X! Today at about 11:30am I realized that I had forgotten to put my patch on! And the voice hadn't been there to remind me that I need to (put it on), so yes it gets better! Cheers, Skidoo PS: congrats on your 5 days! Hiya X!! Granted, I'm no old-timer like Mr. Ed and Fish and N2K, but I wanted to share this with you. I'm passing just 25 days now, and I actually thought last week to myself 'Wow, I've been going now until past 12 noon before I even get my first 'smoke thought''. That's a great description too! I've used 'instinct cravings'. I've not been going "OHMYGODIWANTASMOKE" type stuff. It's just been my brain occasionally going "Hey man, time for a smoke" and such. Not anything to make me want to climb out of my skull, just annoying as heck. So yeah, that's how it's been for me. They are DEFINATELY getting much farther apart. I bet they do for you to! Hi X-Smoker, There IS light at the end of the tunnel, but be prepared for some difficulty along the way. I'm 3 months in, and I know I feel much better than the early weeks, though it's almost impossible to know when things started improving. It's almost like climbing a hill with a gradient so shallow that it feels that you are walking on flat ground - it's only after walking for several miles, you turn round and realise how high you have climbed. I wished I'd kept a diary to log my experiences, perhaps that would be a good idea for new quitters. Stay quit! All the best Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 94 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,824 Amount Saved: 705 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 16 Mins: 43 Seconds: 51

Hi X-smoker, Well I will put my experience in here too. I have been one of those quitters that have expierenced things a bit early. My thoughts, (for me they are already thoughts. I no longer have cravings or urges.) on smoking eased up in my 3rd week. It was just around the same time when something hit me and I realized that I hated smoking. I wanted to fight. I put up my dukes and said "Lets get it on............" And that is where I am today. I feed my brain with positives. I try to look on the bright side....... And I still have my boxing gloves on, ready to kick some a$$. I just know I will never smoke again. And just as N2K said, the desire is no longer the same. Stay strong! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,250 Amount Saved: $245.25 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 0 Mins: 53 Seconds: 45

Hi X-smoker - Yes - it does get better - I promise! That little voice will take a vacation now and then and you realize - WOW! I'm doing this!!! I am defeating that voice and continuing on my path! You sound like a wonderful, strong person with a great attitude! I suggested on another thread to you to just imagine squishing that voice with a big ol baseball bat - that helped me and made me laugh at the same time. You're doing the right thing by coming here and posting. Don't go too far away! Someone is always here to help! X-smoker - you sound like you have a great attitude. Just keep it up - that's really all there is to it. There is no secret. Yes, with time, that voice will get more and more distant. I agree with everything N2K said, completely. Take it one day at a time and know everytime you ignore that voice you weaken it. Follow the plan - don't smoke - reward yourself - get back to the gym - live long and prosper... also, by all means, document this struggle. Personally, I've got a folder on my computer that I copy posts to and a diary of sorts that I've been keeping track of progress and whatnot. My memory isn't the greatest, so I'm relying on these to remind me of the turmoil I've been through to get to where I am. Best wishes. Oh, and today's quote seems relevant as ever... Remind yourself regularly that you are better than you think you are. Successful people are not superhuman. Success does not require a super-intellect. Nor is there anything mystical about success. And success isn't based on luck. Successful people are just ordinary folks who have developed belief in themselves and what they do. Never - yes, never - sell yourself short. - David J. Schwartz life or death, live or die. there is only do, there is no try. choice puts the free in freedom. no hurries, no worries. keep fightin' the good fight. -fish My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 148 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,456 Amount Saved: $740 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 5 Mins: 3 Seconds: 48

It doesn't feel normal, but we're strange creatures.
