Hi blue panda, Sounds like you are doing great :) Yes, I lOVED smoking and almost daily I still say to myself after I finish this, I'll go smoke. Then I have to remind myself that I don't smoke....I didn't go through a "angry phase" in the beggining but I am definitly in one now. I'm not sure why... Lots of things will happen. Just stay strong you can do it. I also am having more and more junkie thoughts. Just remember one day at a time. We owe it to ourselves. Good luck & take care, -Serena-

I refuse to give in only because I have such contempt for the tobacco industry that seduced me so many years ago"[/i] you may want to rethink this... quitting is the best thing for you physically, but you need to WANT to quit... and realize that you probly didn't LOVE TO SMOKE, you LOVED the feelings that you believe smoking gave you... or that you associated with smoking... and you need to realize and/or learn that you can still have those feelings without the cigarette... I do want to congratulate you on quitting and going 4 days... you're completely over the nicotine addiction, and now it's the emotional and "habit" part you have to work on... good luck... *hugs* and yes I only have 7 days on my meter, but that's this time lol... Hi Bluepanda ... I agree with Lady when she said, "You are quit for today and that is all that matters." After 30 years of this crazy addiction, the way it has become so deeply ingrained in my life, if I had to think in terms of more than one day I probably would panic and give up. That's not to say that I ever want to smoke again ... I don't. I am just trying to keep at least that part manageable. All the best to you. Just for today .. I did it too Bluepanda. It really is kind of comical. I kept looking for my cigarettes before I left the house. Even a couple of months after I quit, I found myself searching for my cigarettes on the counter once. Laugh it off and move on. You are doing great! As far as being angry, you are in control of your attitude. Don't like being angry? Smile. It's tough but you are going to love being a non-smoker. Bluepanda... It's ok to have a pajama day if that is what you need. I have had several of them. Try not to think of your quit in terms of Forever. That is way too much to comprehend at this point. You are quit for today and that is all that matters. When today seems like too much then you are quit for the next five minutes. You build on those minutes. You can only travel this road one step at a time. I think in the beginning all of us wanted to be able to speed up those meters and be over all the horrible withdrawal and emotional stuff that was going on. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. You have to fight for this quit but you only have to do it one minute at a time. As long as you don't light that next cigarette, you are doing fine. Minutes lead to hours, hours lead to days, days lead to weeks, weeks to months...... Get the picture? Five minutes at a time. Deep Breathes. Kick, scream, yell, cry, sleep, punch a pillow, break dishes, whatever it takes, just don't smoke. You are doing great! Bluepanda, I'm so glad to hear you're making it through. No, this isn't easy, but it IS doable and you're doing it! It sounds like you really do want to quit. As for "hating" your quit, that's a pretty dangerous thing to do because then you start to resent quitting and it only makes things harder on you. When you start to think that you "hate" your quit, list at least 3 good things about quitting and why you're doing it... just to keep that resolve. If what it takes to get through the day is to sleep, then do that! And if ice cream is what you need, then that's OK too! Whatever it takes! This is a TOUGH addiction to overcome, but always be glad that you're doing it because this is your LIFE you're fighting for and you are most certainly worth it! Crave the Quit! Hi, Bluepanda. At the end of the first day I was physically exhausted. Every few seconds my body would tense to walk outside, then I'd remember I'd quit and have to stop myself. It was as if, for the entire day, I'd been walking a very big, very ill-mannered dog on a short leash. I was wiped out. It gets better. You're probably tired of hearing that, but it does. You've only been quit 3 days, not the six months it feels like. Reaching for the smokes that aren't there, trying to figure out what you're forgetting when you leave the house. old habits die hard (but they do die!)
