ChickenStix, They don't call it Hell week for nothing. Look at your stats, your on day 6! Don't give up or in yet. I promise, it does get better. Don't feel bad about crying and sleeping. You do whatever it takes to get through this tough part. Just come here to rant and rave, we do understand. Keep Strong. ChickenStix Firstly congrats on getting this far - that's great work. The first week is bad the second isn't alot better...but it's better. That's the way to look at it - every day it does in fact get better. It was this week (6/7) that I realised I really don't smoke anymore. I drive into work everyday and don't smoke...I just don't and you know what it ACTUALLY is getting easier. Hang in there. Hey, we all understand, you do what you gotta do !...... whatever it takes to get you through 'hell week'. If people are offering you advice that haven't smoked before don't even listen to them, they do not comprehend anything of what you're going through but it aint thier fault. I know everyone says this but it will be over very soon, sooner than you may think. During the next couple of weeks or so the sun will be brighter, the sky clearer and the air so much cleaner, just don't miss this moment of revelation. The harder time we have at the start of our quit the better our chances of staying quit, we shure as hell don't want to relapse & go through all this again !. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 413 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,349 Amount Saved: $2684.5 Life Gained: Days: 59 Hrs: 7 Mins: 30 Seconds: 14

Chickenstix,
I wish I had someone to talk to who understood how I felt when I was bawling
You do! Us! We are here for you! Every single one of us knows exactly what you're going through! You're not crazy... you're in recovery! There's a reason that this is called Hell Week... that's because it's total and complete HELL!!!! But guess what?!?!?! You're almost out of Hell week! It gets better from here... I promise you that it WILL get better! Yes, the withdrawal period is rough, but you WILL get through this! You are doing so great! Congratulations on 6 days!!! What I think you need to do right now is go out and get yourself a nice reward! It doesn't have to be expensive, but it has to be something that you really will enjoy. You are worth it! You're doing quite possibly, the best thing that you can do for yourself and you need to show yourself that not smoking can be rewarding too! Oftentimes, we used cigarettes as a reward when we finished a project. Now, we don't have those rewards anymore and so we feel like we're depriving ourselves of being able to feel good. So go out and do something for yourself that will make you feel good! Lastly, if you think that the depression you're feeling is too strong, then maybe you should go to the doctor and try some anti-depressants. After several months of being quit, I realized that I was depressed and the depression wasn't going away. So, I went to the doctor and got put on Wellbutrin and not only did it help with the depression but it also made my quit easier (yes, Wellbutrin is often used to help people quit smoking). So perhaps an anti-depressant will be necessary. Congratulations again for 6 amazing days! Way to go! Crave the Quit!
