Hi, NSA girl. Glad to see you made it through. :) You said "[i]How can I go on faith that it will get better, when out of the blue I have these horrible urges?[/i]" When those horrible urges hit out of the blue is the time you [u]must[/u] go on faith. Curling up into a ball and sleeping or just waiting it out is often the only thing you can do. There's typically a rough spot around 30 days that just about every quitter goes through. Another hits around 100 days, or so, that sometimes is as bad as hell week. Been there, done that, survived. You will, too. As long as you remain smoke-free, there is no right or wrong way to quitting. Whatever technique or coping method you use to not smoke is OK. Congratulations on 26 days quit and surviving this "bump". NSA Congratulations on making it over that crave and for your 26 days smoke free that it awesome!!!! The crave you had last night was just a small one compared to what you had in the beginning and you made it through them and you can do this also. They are more like a thought now since the nicotene is out of your system now. But it is just that a thought like you would think you are hungry or tired, don't let it get to you, think about it and then put it out of your mind, go for a walk or take a long soak in the tub to help take your mind off it. Keep up the good work, you are an awesome quitter!! NSA girl, faith is belief in things unseen. You know for a fact that you have gotten through 26 days by using various coping methods. You can use that evidence, plus those of us who are also in this battle with you, to be pretty darn sure that this is one that is winnable. You may not be able to see the future, but you can certainly visualize it: see yourself as a non-smoker! That's what you are!!! Remember that not every day is going to be great, but then they weren't when you were smoking either! Don't be worried or get discouraged -- keep the faith! NSA girl......have you been rewarding yourself??? I suggest that you have a planned reward set aside for when you have one of these sudden craves come on. It should involve some activity that you would consider a treat...or pampering for yourself? New bath oils and lotions....candles, a long soake in the tub...a pedicure....then a cup of hot flavored tea....maybe some relaxing music...or snugged in bed with a new book that you have laid aside to read as a treat? How about a new exercise/sweat outfit to put on and just "LEAVE" the world behind and go for a walk/jog/run?? Personally I always loved to go to a large book store and just browse for a couple of hours....some of them even have lounge chairs and coffees??? (and no smoking! :) ) If you have something planned, you can switch to your plan which should help to distract you, just as soon as you feel the craving coming on.... NSA, It is over now :) You need to prepare for these out of the blue craves and have coping mechanisms ready. Your craves and symptoms will be different than others and you need to take it step by step :) Take the time to look through the site and search for tips that can help you through those tough days.
