Good-morning Koala, Isn't SSC wonderful, when they see one of our family hurting here they come. You are wonderful too. When I read that you stopped at the gas station, I thought oh no, good for you gum and water was just what you needed. Walking away with your head held high, and you should have. I had to smile when you told your hubby about the incident, you have some kind of support there. Didn't you just love it when several of the newbies including myself came to help...I am so proud of them.. Koala, you have the power over this demon, and you have proved it over and over. And you will this time also. I'm so glad that your positive thinking has returned. I don't think this demon ever gives up, so keep your guard up high. As long as you own your quit he can't touch it. So stay strong and be determined to stay on this journey. What a journey it is... Koala, glad to hear you got through this so far and sorry I missed your post yesterday. I have to admire you for coming here after being quit for so long, that takes wisdom and courage. I think that when we are faced with these situations, be it after 2 days or 2 years, we still have to take it a day at a time. We all know that to stay quit means not smoking for the next 24 hours, where ever we are in the process. You have had a really tough time recently and we can all feel for you, just don't make it even worse by adding one extra burden. Hi Koala, I really don't have much to add after all the previous wonderful advice. Just to reiterate that smoking will not improve your situation. Try to pratice the relaxation techniques that have proven best for you. REALLY, smoking stinks! Please try to remember the addiction as it really was....just plain bad. When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on. F. Roosevelt Hang in there! Koala, You already know that if you smoke even one you risk relapsing all the way back to square one. That's just what I did myself from May 2005 until 9 days ago after having successfully stopped smoking beginning January 1, 2003. A period of 2 years 4 months. Sure, 'I could just have one', and not become hooked again I told myself after watching nicotine addicts fix themselves in the smoking section at a baseball stadium. Well, it didn't happen that way for me. I lit up alright. After a couple of weeks it was one after another every 20 minutes for the next 12 months. In fact, I have had three instances of smoking relapse after having quit for periods of longer than two years each since the early 1980's. It seems that, for me, sooner or later I begin to mis-remember how 'easy' it was for me to give up smoking. Sure it is. Not. So, Koala, you really want to come back to square one with me? Don't do it! Good Luck, Slate

Koala on 640 days - your stats are totally awesome Would it be worth it to smoke and ruin your awesome stats? Would it make your issues go away? Will it make you feel better to give in to nic? You do have the strength, you have not smoked for 640 days. We believe in you, believe in yourself. Besides that, you would look kind of funny with a chewed off arm. Cuddles It's better to be a non-smoker with an occasional desire for a cig than a smoker with a constant desire to quit...... Good job of hangin' in there, girl. I read about people who want to smoke due to stress and I want to actually shout "when the stress is over the smoking will continue....it's an ADDICTION"! Go for a walk, smoking doesn't help anything. Stay close and post often. This too will pass. Koala.. Take some deep breaths. Remember your coping skills. Do Not stop at the gas station tonight on your way home no matter what! You know this is all junkie thinking and that smoking will not solve anything. Sometimes life just sucks. Guess what? It did when you smoked too. You just hid from it behind a cigarette. It takes a lot more courage to face the challenges of life head on. You have almost 2 years under your belt. All that hard work. Could you really imagine letting it all go? Just think what it would be like to add that guilt to the list of things that don't seem to be going right these days. Whew! A bit more than I could handle. We all choose to quit one day at a time whether it is day 2 or day 2000. Each day we renew the commitment to ourselves not to smoke. Remember NOPE? Not One Puff Ever! I don't know why you would want a cigarette anyway. You don't smoke. Remember???? This too shall pass. Hang in there.
