I keep reading that people start coughing up all kinds of funky stuff when their lungs start to clean themselves.
Talked to some ex-smokers, and majority say that usually you start hacking on your 3rd-4th day.
I'm on my 7th, and no hacking or coughing. I used to smoke a pack a day and had this gross wet smokers cough. after I quit, on the second day I completely stopped coughing.
Is that normal? Is it going to hit me later on? Do some people not get it at all?
Just want to know what to expect
Thanks
A.
Hi Me :)
I have thought a lot about the same thing. I'm on my 25th day now and I started to cough (just a little) a day ago. I don't know if this is good or bad.
Someone?

I am on the 25th day, I have a scratchy throat in the mornings, it clears up by lunch time. It's that polite "clearing your throat before you talk" type cough. I have never had a fit or anything.

Same here - no cough, just a few lung loosenings in the first couple of days, nothing to write home about though

I don't recall any coughing early on in my quit. I do remember my throat feeling dry and scratchy, due to the lack of mucous I suppose. I was just thinking the other day that I can't really remember the last time I had a hacking fit.

Hi, Me and Sunflower.
I never went through the hacking up gobs of gunk stage. Lungs are clear and have been since about the second week, or so. That's about when the gurgle/rattle stopped. I have over the months coughed up small bits of brown/black/dark grey stuff, but nothing like what many here have experienced.
