We can all relate to the feeling alone...it's one of the wonderful side affects of giving up "our best friends" (the cigarettes). BUT, as I keep saying "this too shall pass". It's all going to be so much better...we just have to get through all the crappy days and feeling lonely, rejected, etc. to get to those better days. Hang in there, read and post on here as often as you can and remember, you are not alone when you are here...you're with friends!! N.O.P.E. Yes and Yes. We are addicts. We justify our addiction. We did it for years and years and years. In order to quit, your desire not to smoke has to outweigh your desire to smoke. Quitting isn't easy. Unless you totally commit yourself, you will not be successful. Have you worked the program tools to the left? I noticed in another thread that you had slipped and are starting over again. Do you have your reasons for quitting written down? N.O.P.E. is how we all quit. Not one puff ever! You can do it. Use the tools here, they will help you. Hi, ArwensMom. I seem to be following you around here today, lol. I'm no stalker, honest. :) Not long after I quit, my wife thought I wasn't sleeping well. Come to find out the reason for that was she could no longer hear me breathe. She used to tell I was asleep by my snoring. Quitting opened up my sinuses and stopped the snoring. I also used to cough a lot, especially in the mornings. I do not miss that at all. The still wanting a cig and the attempt to explain away the correction of your problems is the addict in you. Pay attention to the good aspects of your quit: no coughing, no dry throat, no cracking and bleeding lips, face is clearer. Those are the important things, the permenant things. The junkie thoughts, the craves, the withdrawal symptoms are only temporary and will go away if you just hang in there and don't smoke. Hi, VASmurfie. Congratulations on 2 weeks quit. That is a fantastic accomplishment. :) At this point, questioning your quit and feeling lonely is very normal. The "rush" of the initial quit is over and you've been pretty beat up over the last two weeks, both physically and emotionally. Now you're entering a time of "blahs". You'll question your quit and begin missing your old "friend". Let the grieving begin. That may last a week, or so, but it is temporary. Just keep in mind why you quit in the first place. Like Lady and Lucy said, write your reasons down and carry them with you. Also, remember the bad of smoking; the stink, eyes burning when smoke got in them, coughing, panic when you realize you are out of smokes or won't be able to smoke for some time, etc. You will tend to start forgetting the bad and only remembering the "good". Do not let that happen, VASmurfie. You've got a good quit going. Hang in there, it does get better and it is SO worth it. I went through the same thing last week...(it's much better this week)...i felt like all i wanted to do was go outside and read my book while drinking coffee and having a smoke! It's something i used to do all the time and i missed doing it... However, now i can stay warm and inside and snuggle under a blanket with my coffee and my book! One thing that helped me (and it may sound odd) was washing my jacket...it STILL smells freshly laundered! You're not alone - we're all here and we're real people going through the same thing you are. Re-read your reasons for quitting...if you don't have a list, make one. VA: Questioning your quit is so normal...It's just "junkie thinking" You were at a point where missing smoking was just becoming over whelming. Learn from this and expect this to happen again around the same time...Plan ahead as to what you can do to get over this hurdle (and many more hurdles to come) Always, keep in mind.....this is your life you are fighting for and it is worth every thing!!!!!
