Give yourself a pat on the back for quitting! It's not easy, but YOU CAN do it because a lot of other people have done it. I think it helps to dring lots of water and keep busy - yesterday I washed my car and did some yard clean up. That kept my mind off of the matter for a while in a safe environment. Stick around, this is a great place to quit! gpw My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/14/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 27 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 414 Amount Saved: $108 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 13 Mins: 19 Seconds: 52

I'm doing OK. Thanks everyone. I have a question: Of all your quits (if you had tried before) what was different about this one? What was it that made this quit stick? Far as I can see this is no different than any other quit for me. Except that maybe it is all too familiar... I seem to have junkie thinking overload... I know this normal...I know this will pass... *sigh* I read my reasons over and over...still I get the question... why did I want to do this again? Nothing seems to shut it off. The volume just keeps getting louder. I'm starting to get mad...at everything...because I just want this to STOP! Jeez I sound like a weak willed woosy. Tennielle. Remember we talked about this. You can quit. Just five minutes at a time. That is all you have to do. Take some deep breaths, a hot bath, go to the movies, kick, scream, fight and if none of that works, you still don't smoke. You are fighting for your life. Read those reasons again. Out loud this time. As long as you don't light that next cigarette you will be fine. It's hard and yes it sucks but you can do it. Just hold on tight. This is the hardest part. This too shall pass. Let us know how you are doing. Tennielle, Thoughts are just that... thoughts. You're doing the right thing by teeling yourself how much you want to quit and how much you DON'T want to smoke. Read my response to this thread. Hopefully that will help some. Crave the Quit! Tennielle, When you have reached that point in your mind that you desire to quit more than you desire to smoke, the quit will come easily. You will feel almost a joy in your quit. I'm not saying you aren't there, but you are really fighting it. Quitting, when you truly want to quit, isn't that hard. Let the nicodemon know who's boss. Take control of your life, take control of your quit. Stop "starting and stopping".. you will beat yourself to death doing that. Of course, smoking will kill you also. Sounds to me you just need to quit and be done with it! Best wishes. Be Strong. Be Smart.
