Hello all, I am on day 39 of being smoke free, I have started on my first week of the 7mg patches and have had a small amount of cravings but nothing major. I have found that I can't deal with the smell of smoke anymore which is a good thing but eventually I do have a craving and would do anything for 1 (one) puff. Thankfully, my smoking co-workers are helping me my denying a cig to me when I ask for one. I even offered 10 bucks for 1 smoke and noone would give me one so I am lucky in that part. Is it normal to have these small bursts of cravings after this many days? I am asuming that with the small amount of nicotene in my system from the patches that I will have these cravings until all of the nicotene is out. Hi everyone. I"ve got going on 70 days and have had some cravings too, tho they haven't lasted but only a couple of min. Luckily I"ve been very busy at the time. Only yesterday a late b/d party was had for my daughter, by her friends. She still smokes as do some of her friends, so I had to be pretty careful around them. I could smell it and really would like to have had one. I know those cravings are just physcological now but they're cravings nontheless. But I'm getting by one day at a time. One great news item in my life!! We've been on 3 cruises on my life and haven't been able to take a vacation in over 2 yrs. One of the goals of my stopping smoking was a weekend cruise as my reward. Well I've got one better than that. Hubby is taking me for 3-4 days to Ocho Rios Jamaica to the Sandals Resort!!!!! I'm so happy its not even funny! Still can't believe it. I've wanted to go there for so long, and now its here, or will be on Mar. 27th. Our 7th anniversary is the 28th. I just wanted to share my good news with you all. Hi, RWW. Rusty, 3galeh!, and Melanie have pretty much summed it up. The point that Melanie was refering to is something we call the 30-day pit, among other things. Most people tend to have problems around weeks 4 - 5, or so (can you tell this isn't exact science?). You may be experiencing that, too. Hang in there, it does pass. What I say in your post is your co-workers. Most smokers are intimidated by a quitter because it threatens their own addictions. "If he's successful does it mean he's better than me?", or "Will I be expected to quit, too. What if I can't?". That type of stuff. Totally irrational, but then what about addiction is rational? The fact that you have coworkers who are such good friends that they wouldn't sell you a smoke for $10 is quite amazing. You are blessed, RWW. Hopefully, they will watch your success and some will follow in time. Keep up the good quit. Congratulations on 39 days. Yes it is normal to have cravings but they will get less and less severe as your quit goes by. Find things to do to take yourmind off the craves, walk, exercise, go to a show, have a bubble bath, read, join a gym, listen to music, the list is endless. Yes, it is normal. Until the nicotine is completely out of your body, you will have to feed those physical cravings. As you step down, you will be easing your way into needing less and less nicotine. You've already won much of the battle at 39 days by not doing the hand-to-mouth thing at regular intervals. Sometimes you're going to crave or feel like you want a cigarette -- but you are in control now. You can just say N.O.P.E. -- not one puff ever.
