Onset of Depression

for 19 år siden 0 5 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I have felt more depressed and I am also on welbutrin. I went to talk my doctor and he upped my meds and has mixed them a bit to help with my weight gain. He has also given me something that is supposed to help me sleep. I am hoping to have a real nights sleep tonight.

Good luck everyone. I have definitely been low, too (my girlfriend dumped me right around when I quit, too - that's been fun, NOT). I'm blaming the smokes... they've been keeping us down for a long time - I was depressed before I quit - now I think the clouds are starting to lift. It'll take a while since they've had ~20 years to amass. Yesterday was the first day since I quit that I just had a great feeling, that I was getting somewhere - maybe a glimmer at the end of the tunnel. I've been taking yoga since I quit and I just started going to a counselor, just to talk about things. I think it helps - it's a distraction and I look forward to it. I try to plan my days full so I don't have too much idle time to worry about not succeeding. it's the dang nicodemon taking you for a last ride through the muck. I think this is what they mean by tying a knot in the end of your rope and holding on. THIS TOO SHALL PASS. Hang tight. Keep on keepin' on - fish My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 36 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,099 Amount Saved: $180 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 17 Mins: 41 Seconds: 47

I think it is the last few days I have been dealing with that too, and I am on wellbutrin for depression. I have a appointment as well, I was also wondering if it was the nic. or if the med was not working any longer. Dixie- your way not alone. I would not at all be surprized that every serious smoker has an issue with depression but just never realized how much until they quit. (i quit for 20days and then got bit by the nicodemon again, and now i'm back) I think the nicotene is a light form of self medication. Talk to your doctor for sure! Good luck and stay strong. Smoking again will just mask the symptoms again, not really fix anything. Depression is a normal side effect of nicotine deprivation. In fact, some believe that many smokers are self-medicating light depression with nicotine. One thing that will help negate the depression is rewarding yourself often. A reward can be a 12-caret diamond, or a walk in the park. The only requirement is that it make you happy. I'll bump the "Rewards, nicotine and the brain" thread in the General Discussion forum. It goes into more detail. I am by no means suggesting you cancel your doctor's appointments. If you feel you need to see your doc, then certainly do so. Just realize that you are not abnormal ;). Did anyone else experience serious depression after quitting? Over the past 5 weeks, I have been battling some very serious depression-like symptoms and have even made a doctor's appointment for it. Is this normal from the effects of nicotine withdrawl?
